Yeah when I saw it in theatres and I was not expecting it to be that good. Surprised and satisfied.
Just saw Captialism: A Love Story & The Ghost Writer this weekend. Both good. Is it me or is Olivia Williams HOT! >_>

^ The Ghost Writer is really a good flick, does anyone have any recommendations similar to the Ghost Writer? Suspense, drama, quiet flick.
Try this, I use this site to find new movies: http://www.jinni.com/discovery.html?...e-ghost-writer - It doesn't always recommend movies on the sort of similarities you may be looking for, though, so check the details when you see them.
donnie yen is awesome, didnt remember the movie's name but there was a scene where he just charge at a man, grabbed him and suddenly german suplex out of nowhere lol, my jaw just dropped after i see it
found it, it was flashpoint's final fight scene, that scene alone is worth buying the dvd for lol.
Tokyo Godfathers.
Re-watching this excellent movie for the umpteenth time.
RIP Satoshi Kon ::manly tears::
Just finished watching Tekken (2010). The fighting is ok but im so annoyed by the mother flashbacks which happens like 9000 times through the movie. The ending is pretty bad. Watch it if you are bored.
Spy Game is definitely a good movie. I remember wanting to watch it when it released but never got around to it.
I'd definitely recommend Ip Man 2. The sequel transitions rather well from the first one. If the first one got a...let's say 10/10 score...the second one is like a 9.5 or something barely noticeable. I loved them both, and would definitely agree with the Donnie Yen comment. Waiting for the third installment now.
As for other martial arts movies...watched Chocolate this weekend. SO MUCH BETTER than Ong Bak (which I thought was really overrated).
Finally, my favorite movies of the summer from Netflix definitely have to be Neverwas and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Gotta get the Millenium Triolgy to read now. Anyone see The Girl Who Played with Fire or The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest know how they are?
Girl Who Played With Fire was worth the money I spent to see it in the theater, but it is definitely not as good as Dragon Tattoo. If you liked The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo a lot, then you won't be wasting your time watching the sequel. Just temper your expectations a little bit. After all, the first one was so good that there really was nowhere for them to go but down.
Just watched the new Robin Hood movie and really liked it. I'd heard a few friends knock it and the people I watched it with got confused a few times mid-story, but I found it really interesting and easy to follow. Plus Cate Blanchett is super ridiculous hot.
I'm curious, what did you like about Chocolate? I'd been hearing good things, but after watching it I found it pretty underwhelming.
Compared to other martial arts movies like Ip Man and Fearless, Chocolate is pretty subpar. The story's not as in-depth and the fight scenes weren't really well-choreographed. However, the movie was highly amusing in many aspects...primarily the fact that you've got a disabled child kicking everyone's asses with awesome muscle memory and reflexes...not to mention the horribly amusing fight between the two disabled kids. If the movies were on a scale of 1-10, Ip Man and Fearless would be up there on a 10, with Chocolate at a 5 or 6 for me and Ong Bak at a 1 or 2. I just thought I'd recommend the movie because as a martial artist, I was personally entertained and thought others would find it amusing as well.
It was more of a "fun" movie than an amazing movie like Dragon Tattoo or something.
On that note I'm planning to watch Dragon Tattoo tomorrow, another movie I keep seeing brought up lol. I get what you mean, though, I sort-of enjoyed it in that capacity, some of the ridiculous parts and that this was a really young, talented kid doing all the scenes. I think the problem was it was being touted by some as something along the lines of movies like Ip Man and the expectations were just way too high. Was going to watch Raging Phoenix as well, but ended up not after Chocolate. Maybe I'll give it a shot, lol
Chocolate is pretty trashy, saw it like... what 2 years ago? As far as fighting movies the last really good ones were Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong, alas they're pretty old too. Don't dig IP mans, sick and tired of bull shit kung fu since the Matrix.
Let me know how that goes. I was curious about it, but I think I'd avoid it if it turned out to be another lame Muay Thai movie. Nothing against Muay Thai, I just think it's poorly executed these days.
I really can't see how Ong Bak was good, and supposedly it got progressively worse with the second one. I could pass it off as "okay" but it was really overhyped and overrated imo. I've been meaning to give it the benefit of the doubt and check out The Protector though.
As for Matrix, I don't think it should be associated with martial arts movies. It's just flashy..and not to mention really old too.
Machete is badass too.
I can't say anything about the second one since I have not and probably will not see it. Btw, Tom Yum Goong = Protector. I really liked them because they showed amazing fighting scenes w/o the bullshit ropes = most if not all Chinese flicks. They have this visceral feel to them, which most kung fu movies lack.
