@Tyche I know you're located much closer to the heart of the SEC, and I'm in the middle of Big 12 land, so it's not surprising.

What would your change to the tiebreak be if not a point differential like I mentioned earlier? What rule makes Texas get chosen (if their BCS ranking is in fact inferior tomorrow)?

Oklahoma could realistically, although not too likely, go up and lose to a pissed off Missouri team who just played this week at that same stadium in the conditions it can create. It's not far geographically, but it gets a lot colder and nastier in Columbia/KC than it does in Oklahoma. Then, who plays the SEC Championship winner in the BCS title game? Certainly not Missouri.. Texas? USC? ...Penn State, ok no on them. :D

1st. I went to a Big East school

2nd. There is no rule that shows Texas should get chosen, I never said there was. What I said was that Texas deserved it. Texas beat Oklahoma on a neutral field and Oklahoma has laid a complete fucking egg in the BCS. They've been in those bowls in 4 of the last 5 years and lost all four of them. Fuck that, they don't deserve it. If what Plow said was right, that OU just doesn't play hard in those lesser bowls, then fuck them and Stoops, that should have a detrimental effect on your future. OU has shown me absolutely nothing this season that tells me they should be in it. They beat TT in the same fashion that TT beat Texas. It was after their third strait game against a tough opponent. Teams just cannot sustain that kind of momentum.

3rd. As far as the worst loss/best loss, let's simplify this. Ignore the teams names and rivalries (and let's be honest, texas may be tech's biggest rival, but Oklahoma is Texas's rival).

"Team A" lost to "Team B" on the road at the last second against a top 5 team with 2 heisman candidates after playing 3 strait games against top 10 teams.

"Team C" lost to "Team A" by 10 points, blew a 4th quarter lead, and gave up 15 unanswered point in the last 10 minutes, all on a neutral field (where half the fans were your crowd) after playing a fucking cupcake the week before.

    Which loss is worse?

No one can use the "Well we beat them head to head" since neither of the three teams beat the other two. It's a shitty deal, but Oklahoma will most likely go to the Big 12 Championship game. That and scoring 60+ again is rough.

Straaaaight. It's straight. Strait isn't corrected by spellcheck, but good god does it look wrong. Straight! :/

And I agree about Texas deserving to go. Tougher schedule, actually has SOME defense.. etc.

Scoring 60 isn't as impressive as allowing 40 is unimpressive. Seriously I'm with the majority here, Texas should go.

There is going to be a shitstorm of controversy around this BCS vote between the three Big XII teams. No matter who gets in, people will want ballots published, angry mobs will riot outside the supercomputers, Bush will have to call in the National Guard, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

Texas lost on a last play that went Heisman-to-Heisman because they put themselves in that situation. Texas is a better team than Texas Tech, and it is their own fault they're not undefeated. You're getting far too caught up in the drama that was the last play. Don't get me wrong; it's the best play in college football so far this year, but there are a lot of ways to win and lose football games. And Texas' players, in way too many positions, were outplayed by their inferior counterparts. And fatigue certainly factored in.. but I'm sure you'll at least agree with me in that it's bullshit that simply the schedule is what is ultimately deciding this tiebreak.

Look at the dates of the losses; USC benefits every single fucking season from fucking up early and putting on displays late in the season. Florida is doing it this year, and Oklahoma is doing it. Oklahoma lost way back when we thought Georgia was good to a team with whom they're evenly matched. Oklahoma's loss is better (earlier) than Texas' loss. Now, I would say Texas' wins are better than Oklahoma's wins. Unfortunately, it's inevitable that the losses will end up being what matters, at least according to the numbers we'll soon see. OU will be hurt less by their 1 loss than Texas will be.

You're welcome, but seriously. Don't throw that "efficient typer" bullshit at me. It's seriously not that hard to type the "gh" in straight. They are right next to each other! D:

I don't know. 60+ is great, but doing it four straight times is ridiculous. Then again, yeah.. they did allow 41 to a team that Texas played and only allowed 24.

I agree. No matter what happens, it won't be good enough. Playoff, please.

Also, earlier I didn't ask what rule gets in Texas because you (Tyche) said one would. I just simply wondered what would "fix" this 3-way tie. If Texas is the more deserving team and the majority feels that way, how could it be quantified in this tie? I mentioned it in my first post tonight, but I want to reiterate that Oklahoma leads in point differential in common games among the 3 teams in the tie, and that's the normal tiebreak about that far deep in ties with more than 2 teams. It seems like the most fair thing that could be measured next.

I'm not all pro-Oklahoma; I just don't think they're undeserving of the ticket to KC for the Big 12 title. Also, I think a Florida/Texas NC is more intriguing than a Florida/Oklahoma NC (only by a little), I believe Texas is the better team; I find their wins and season (so far) more impressive. Obviously I'll have a convenient opportunity to change to Oklahoma if they handle Missouri on a sorta-road game when Texas beat Mizzou at home. Nonetheless, right now, this tie must be settled on some tangible grounds, and it has to be some odd criterion as a tiebreak to get Texas to go. If OU goes and loses a very losable game in KC this Saturday, Texas will probably still have a chance to hop into the BCS title game. The same is true for OU if they don't come out on top tomorrow and Texas has a rematch with Missouri.

Anyway, we'll most likely get to see the two best teams in the Big 12 in BCS bowl games. I'm excited for the bowl season already.

    Orange: Boston College vs. Cincinnati
    Rose: Penn State vs. USC
    Sugar: Florida vs. Ohio State
    Fiesta: Texas vs. Utah
    NC: Alabama vs. Oklahoma

Hosed: Texas Tech, Boise State, and Ball State.

It would be very difficult for Texas to go to the nat. championship if they don't even win their own division, much less conference. USC and Penn State would throw a fucking fit, not that they are better, but they at least won their conference.

Most painful loss I've ever been witnessed personally, and arguably the worst I've ever been a part of (Super Bowl XL was close). Losing is one thing, losing to your arch rivals is another, losing to your arch rivals at home while the Rose Bowl is on the line is truly crushing. It would have hurt less had the Beavers not won 6 straight to set this up. Argh.

Oregon State had absolutely no answer for Oregon's offense. None. Once Oregon State realized in the second quarter they couldn't run the same rushing scheme without Jacquizz Rogers, they were three touchdowns behind, and even though they scored on the majority of their drives, they couldn't stop the Ducks long enough to get closer than 13 points. And they traded touchdowns for the rest of the game, but the Ducks would answer with huge play after huge play. They averaged roughly 12 yards a carry, and had 4 - 6 runs over 50 yards. Oregon State couldn't tackle Oregon's QB, the Ducks' RBs or their WR's, I've never seen so many missed tackles in my life.

Argh. The funny thing is Oregon State could still make the Rose Bowl if USC if loses next week. As unlikely as that is, Oregon State getting into the Rose Bowl in that manner would be sort of a hollow victory.

How about Missouri upsetting Texas on Saturday (assuming they play) and Oklahoma getting into that National Championship game against Alabama that way? It seems like many people wouldn't even want OU there as the Big 12 Champ, let alone there as a team that didn't win their conference. Then Mizzou ninjas into the Fiesta Bowl; can Texas still be chosen? Isn't that the one way a conference can get 3 teams into BCS games?

Edit: @Tyche The only team who could jump the team who doesn't go to KC next week would be USC. Penn State has no statistical chance. And if it's certain that USC would, add a UCLA win to the hypothetical.

The only way 3 can get in is if the top 2 teams in the BCS standings do not win their conference.

Oh.. hm, I thought it was a possibility somehow earlier this year for the Big 12. I must be mistaken.

Either way, I still think it's a lock that a Big 12 team is in the NC as of right now. I don't think USC or Penn State will climb high enough to jump the loser of the tiebreak.
