    Don't really like that match-up. Rematch of a blowout in 2006's National Championship would be boooring. That and I think Alabama loses and goes to the Sugar anyway. Alabama vs. Ohio State would be interesting as both offenses are basically the same. Rely heavily on the run, though Alabama's defense can stop both aspects of an offense (pass/run), while Ohio State can be exposed.

    I like the other match-ups, except put Florida in vs. Oklahoma for an epic 65-64 National Championship.

    I don't like that match-up either, but I bet the bowl gods try to fabricate some lame rivalry as their excuse for passing on Boise State. "Redemption is on the menu for the 2006 National Champions blah blah blah, cue highlight package of game." That is, of course, if BG and Vegas odds makers lose at the Georgia Dome next Saturday. If it's Bama in the Sugar then they have no excuse, other than the monetary of course.

    I really like the idea of Texas vs. Utah in the Fiesta Bowl. I think it could surprise some people, a la Boise and Oklahoma.

    I think it would be a similar game to TX vs Tech, cept a little more in favor of TX.

    Either way, I still think it's a lock that a Big 12 team is in the NC as of right now. I don't think USC or Penn State will climb high enough to jump the loser of the tiebreak.

    Oh, it is technically possible, but the pollsters would have to be on crack pretty much, or else we'd need magic losses that I don't think can possibly happen.

    Only way, basically, at this point, would be for Tech to get voted ahead of Texas and OU tomorrow, then go in and lose to Mizzou, then Bama loses, but Florida etc don't get bumped ahead of texas/OU, so that you ended up with a Texas vs OU 1-2 in the BCS + Mizzou winning the big 12 championship.

    Yeah, that's not really a possibility anymore. Although I've got a feeling the next game Texas plays is the BCS title game... similar to the same feeling I had when I saw this 3-way tie coming as soon as Texas lost in Lubbock. Missouri as Big 12 Champs sounds so inappropriate and ridiculous. >.>;

    I still can't see a way for Texas to get into the national championship game unless they win the conference...which...doesn't look good. Coach's poll.

    If Mack Brown would have given his team a 1st place vote, they'd probably have jumped Oklahoma.

    Wow.... one point in the coaches poll between Oklahoma and Texas...

    Edit: It's Oklahoma #2 in BCS standings!

    Yeah, Texas got hosed. I knew it was going to happen too since the computers love strength of schedule and OU had TCU and Cincinnati out of conference wins. I still want to see Mizzou pull out a miracle so the BCS gets even more fucked up.

    I personally think though it will be OU vs. Florida in the NC. Florida is going to crub-stomp Bama with the way they are playing right now.

    And in this week's episode of continue to laugh @ ND:

    CBS has us projected as playing Rice in the Texas bowl. ESPN has us against Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl and another ESPN projection has us in the Poinsettia Bowl against BYU.

    From what I've been reading, for some reason the Texas Bowl seems to be getting the most likely nod. Sad part is, I'm pretty convinced Rice will beat us. Actually, with the way we've been playing this month, I'm pretty convinced any bowl game is going to be a loss...not enough booze in the world for this shit.

    Yeah at this point in the season, ND should just be happy they held on to that win against Navy to be bowl-eligible. They'll get a nice pay day somewhere.

    I was watching "College Football Final" this morning after I got home from work, Mark May and Lou Holtz gave their opinions as to the "most important group" for both teams in the SEC Championship. May talked about the speed of the Florida position players, and Holtz talked about the Bama offensive line. May just openly laughed at the notion that an o-line could be a "key" to a big game like this, but I don't really see why. I know most people don't study things like how well guards pull or tight ends collapse, run blocking isn't "sexy." But these guys are supposed to be experts, pointing out what we don't see, and any moron who watches a highlight reel could say Florida has speed. I would love nothing more than for crazy old Lou Holtz to have a big "I told you so" come next Saturday night.

    I tell this story not only to put the brakes on the Florida-fellating that's going on, but also to illustrate that I genuinely think Mark May really, really hates Lou Holtz. When they do that stupid mock trial thing, you can almost see May get more and more irate every time Holtz just starts rambling on about God knows what.

    In all seriousness, if you think Florida is better than Alabama, that's obviously your prerogative. But I highly doubt either side is getting "curb-stomped." You have two of the top teams with experienced, talented coaches at a neutral site, so I'm looking forward to a great game.

    Well, it's easy to say you don't believe one team is better than the other when you're a fan of one of those two teams. I'm a fan of neither, and I see Florida winning by at least two TDs. To me, that counts as being "curb-stomped."

    Am I saying Alabama has zero chance? Not at all. They are 12-0 for a reason, and Florida did lose to Ole Miss early on due to turnovers. They have a chance, but if Florida doesn't turn over, and it turns into a shootout, I don't think Alabama can keep up.

    Basically you're saying a USC victory over UCLA causes them to jump Texas? Or that the loser of the SEC Championship wouldn't fall below Texas? I feel the latter is more likely of the two to happen, but I could also see the SEC Championship loser falling below Texas. (Florida already is, but I'm approximating how far Alabama will fall from the top spot if they lose.) There is no other team even in the mix. Penn State, no. Utah, no. Texas remains idle; they're not going down any, and they could very well play for the National Title.... if Missouri ruins OU's party.

    Yeah. I think Texas could play in the NC game against the winner of the SEC Championship game if Mizzou beats Oklahoma. Personally, I feel USC has zero chance to get in the NCG, no matter how badly they beat UCLA. They are Rose Bowl bound, and that's all there is to it this year.

    I'm not sure if that's true. I think there will be enough people saying "if you don't win your conference you shouldn't be in the national championship game" that the polls might be influenced to get USC in.

    You really think everyone who feels Texas got robbed in this most recent tiebreak would put in USC over them simply because of an inevitable result of that tiebreak? It's not like Texas is going to their conference championship game. And in terms of the mathematical difference USC has to make up on Texas with a single game against an unranked team left to play, it's not going to happen from voters swinging, not even close. -.-;

    Yeah. The only way I saw USC getting in was if the Big XII Champion was Missouri, and if Florida was upset by FSU, then beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Even then, it'd be tough. So yeah, I honestly think USC has zero chance.

    I mean sure that's an improbable situation, but yes if 3 of the teams ahead of USC lost in the next 2 weeks? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes then USC would be in the NC. How would it be tough? 2-loss Florida isn't going to leapfrog them.

    Uh.... no? Florida has 1 loss. If they lost in the SEC Championship game, then Alabama goes to the National Championship game. >.> If Oklahoma loses to Mizzou, then Texas more than likely goes to the National Championship game. USC needed help this past weekend and didn't get it from everyone they needed to lose. They do need 3 teams to lose; Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. Here's the thing; only two of those are playing. USC is out unless the pollsters completely fuck people over and vote them ahead of Texas after USC beats UCLA.
