Plow, I know Mizzou held them to ten points. I said that. I also said the last 7 points were in the final seconds (and I know how meaningless they were), so we agreed on that. I just don't think Nebraska's offense is that good. Not to mention their defense is so shitty, so they were pretty much out of the game and gave up by halftime anyway. Wouldn't you think so? Not trying to make excuses. They did give up 35 points to Virginia Tech. There is no way Virginia Tech should be scoring that many points @Nebraska if they were decent. Agreed?
Oh, I don't give Nebraska's defense any form of credit whatsoever, just pointing out that their offense isn't as terrible as implied.

    I wouldn't say it's as bad as, say, Auburn's ;p

Hey, was that a shot?! Psh. Like I didn't know. I said we were overrated from the start, what with the new Offense/coordinator/no QB thing. =[ Did I think it'd be this bad? God know. Hooorrendous. South Carolina might even have a better offense.

    Okay.. nah.

Right now, UNC does look to be the better team, and in my opinion, the best team we've played yet. Our schedule is a joke this year though. Think about it, if we manage to beat UNC, there is no reason ND can't run the table and go play USC with one loss. And if by some miracle ND pulls the huge upset, that could lead us into a possible BCS bowl (that we will get owned in). Just lol.

Either way, nice to see some progress in South Bend. Clausen looks like he is starting to figure it out. I know it sounds stupid, but actually seeing our QB calling audibles at the line makes me feel a lot better -- makes me feel like he's understanding what he needs to do. Our other young players are also starting to make huge impacts as well. Things actually look up somewhat after last year's abysmal season.

I wouldn't say "possible" or "pipedream" really, unless you're referring to the possibility of ND getting through NC and Pitt, a 1 loss ND team would make a bcs bowl even if that loss was USC at the end of the year, a 1 loss team that beats USC would threaten the national championship game, simply by virtue of being Notre Dame.

You do realize ND already has one loss (MSU) right?

With our schedule, I really think we would have to win out the rest of the way for a BSC birth. Either way, it is a situation I don't think, or really want, ND to be in.

My hopes for this season were twofold. First, improve drastically and see our young talent develop. Second, end that God-forsaken bowl losing streak.

And I swear, if ND finishes with 1 loss and gets a BCS berth over say.. Utah or BYU (assuming one of which finish undefeated since they play each other at the end of the year), then as a fan of College Football in general, I'd be pissed. I'm sorry, but there is no way in heck they'd match up against other BCS teams in a big bowl game. :/ It'd be Hawaii all over again. I do think ND is making some strides in the right direction, but srsly. It'd be a bad idea.

Really? A 1 loss Notre Dame team that lost early on the road against a good team, that would have wins @NC and @USC vs a Utah team that had one decent opponent? Utah wouldn't have a prayer, and it flat out wouldn't be fair to put Utah in with that schedule over any major team with 1 loss this year.

One, there is no way ND beats USC. No way in hell. Second, if something like that DID happen, do I think it'd matter against Utah who in this scenario would be undefeated? No. I don't think so. I think the fact that USC lost to Oregon State, then turns around and loses to ND hurts Notre Dame since Utah beat that same Oregon State team. That's how I think the pollsters would see it, and honestly.. with Notre Dame's schedule, and considering how far back they started in the polls, it'd be near impossible for that to actually carry through.

Plus really. Notre Dame's got to have one of the easiest schedules in the nation. If a tough schedule rewards teams, a weak schedule would do the opposite, right? Even if it is ND.

1st of all, if Utah goes undefeated, they will be at least #14 in the BCS ranking, which guarantee them a spot. Check out a universal comparison of a lot of rankings. Utah average out to be about #8 right now:

    http://www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm

Secondly, Notre Dame's SOS is actually 39 right now. I don't think even if it drops, it will be that much.

I suspect if ND finish the season with only 1 loss (I agree that no way in hell they beat USC, but anyway...), both teams will make it.

I could have sworn you had to be in the Top 12 to be in the BCS At-Large Bid running. >.>; Either way, I honestly doubt Notre Dame would get THAT high. Ranked in the Top 25? Sure. Teams in the Top 25 will lose, they'll get in. Their schedule, however, doesn't constitute putting them in the Top 12 for a BCS game. That and they would still be outmatched. Stanford is improving, sure, but they still let them back in the game at the end of it this past weekend. UNC should beat them, so that'd be two losses. USC should beat them, that'd be three, so all of this is moot anyway, but still. :/

Hmmm... looks like the guarantee is top 12, but the at-large eligibility is top 14

Dunno. If TX doesn't defend the pass decently, then no.

I think OU spanks them...then Texas spanks Missou the week after. Texas has a hell of a tough stretch comin up. @ #1 OU, #3 Missou at home, #17 Okie State at home, then @ #7 Tech. Obviously the rankings aren't going to be the same when they play their respective teams and some of these teams may turn out to flop, but it still looks crazy.

I actually pick Texas to win by a Touchdown. Mack Brown im sure has had this date circled for months now, and Colt McCoy still is living in Daniels and Bradfords shadows after becoming Vince Young's replacement...expect a chip on his shoulder and him to play very aggressively. Texas has been quiet for too long with a team this overall strong.

Well first off, ND is better than Oregon State, and they did it... so yeah. You also have the comparison of ND rocking Michigan while Utah barely pulled out a win against them.

I'm not saying ND is going to beat USC, but seriously to believe a 1 loss Notre Dame team that beats USC on the road and at least 2 other ranked opponents gets left out in favor of Utah, you'd have to not have been paying attention to college football for the last... hundred years?

McCoy is a scrub and I honestly doubt he wins any of the 3, possibly Mizzou.
