I'm happy. We ran fine from the I-Formation against Vandy in the 1st quarter. Then we went back to the Spread and bombed. We've bombed ever since the Southern Miss game. This is a great move. We have RB depth with Lester healthy again, so I expect more of an Al Borges type offense for the rest of the year. Hooray.

We just didn't have the athletes for the spread.

I knew it wouldn't take long to see your response. Yeah I think it'll make Auburn a better team. If I was an Auburn fan I'd be pissed this didn't happen 3 games ago.

Yeah. I just found out about 45 minutes ago from an inside source. The fact is, I wish we never had the spread to begin with. It's a great idea to think about at the start, but our athletes aren't the athletes used in the spread. We still have power runners, not elusive backs. I saw it coming during our first game against LA-Monroe.

And lol. I think we lose to Georgia and Alabama this year, but at least we'll score more in my opinion.

You guys kinda did, and after recruiting next year it would have showed more, but for some reason Tony Franklin refused to play Kodi Burns, who would have been an awesome spread QB (see the Clemson game at the Chick Fil A bowl).

From what I understand so far, Franklin was too stubborn apparently to give Burns a decent shot at the offense because the guys he brought with him wanted that other QB (todd?). Though on the same note, apparently Tuberville is on the hotseat for hiring Franklin so quickly in the first place.

If Auburn were to pull it off, they could have had a very similar Air Raid offense to Texas Tech and tore some SEC up...but to have that kind of power transition in just an offseason is a silly thing to ask for, Auburn i think would have been a beast next year if they were willing to give a year up in an SEC west that looked down (not the case anymore since LSU and Alabama have jumped in).

I still expect them to drop 1 or 2 more games before everything fits back into place, but for god sakes tuberville play Burns now...

On the upside, if they return to what Auburn was 2 years ago, their chances of beating bama just jumped too.

No. You haven't watched every Auburn game like I have. Kodi Burns is NOT that good. He has a worse arm than Todd (which is why you only see him throw those 10-15 yard cross patterns), and Todd has him beat there. Tony Franklin and his guys did want Todd, as he knew the system like the back of his hand, but that shoulder injury I believe is causing him more trouble than people think. We didn't have all of the athletes. Our O-line is still too slow for the spread system (hence why they wear down late in the game), we lack the depth, our WRs other than Rod Smith and Dunn are not that good (bottom of the SEC after all, thanks to QB play), and the only position we were really solid at is HB.

In my opinion, the only reason Kodi Burns did semi-decent was because Clemson was overrated then just like they are now. That and as much as I hate to admit it... Brandon Cox did have a good, strong arm. He just had a tendency to throw it to the wrong colored jersey. Maybe if Kodi Burns would've been the starter from the start of the offseason, worked on the system, and ran it well.. we could have seen things differently, but there's no way in hell we could've been compared to the Air Raid of Texas Tech. Jason Campbell was our last good QB, and even before then, we haven't had a good QB in ages.

I doubt Tubbs is on the hot seat, and if he is, the alumni are retarded. You don't get rid of a guy that's like 12-4 against the Top 10, has a great conference record, and basically nets you 9+ wins a year. I do think they drop two by the end of the year. At home against UGA, and probably @Alabama. I think this is Bama's year to end their drought. If AU gets back to how they were with the run a couple of years ago though, I do like their chances in both games. Their o-line right now is just too soft. I think our D-Line can destroy UGA's, especially after UGA put on that lack of show in the first half against Alabama's, but I'm afraid our offense can't score enough.

yea you can tell what play it is just by the QB, todd will be a passing play, burns will be a run or missed pass. burns looks like a high school QB who thinks he can keep it each play and break a huge run, he can't.

Yep. Defenses wise up. That and even when he passes, his passes flutter in the air, hence the easy Fair-Catch-like INTs he throws. If Burns was at least a little better of a passer, then it'd be understandable to keep him full time to run the spread, but that's not the case.

IMO, if they aren't going to put Kodi Burns in as the outright starter, they should abandon it. Todd isn't horribly slow, but he is more of a drop-back passer, and IMO he isn't so good at that either.

So if they are going to keep rolling with Todd, they better be handing the ball of damn near every play.

I'm sure glad the OK vs TExas game is early, I want to see the LSU/Florida game. That game is going to be amazing. Night game at the swamp. Going to be SUPERFAST (noone will get this reference). I think Oklahoma rolls texas, doubt it'll be anything amazing.

Oklahoma is usually the clear favorite here, but Texas hasn't been close to this good since the NC year.

You guys really need to see Texas in person sometime though, Brown uses a MASSIVE o-line, and they go out and stand tall for a second before every play, which is rarely visible/noticable on TV, but in person seeing them stand a foot or so over every dlineman typically, in those bright white uniforms, hell I get intimidated sitting 30 rows up in the stands.

Yeah, tons of good football today. I'm flicking back and forth (OK/TX dominate) between this and Minnesota/Illinois.

But yeah. LSU/Florida and Penn State/Wisconsin tonight is gonna be good. I am glad we get to see a lot of offense early on though today, because clearly defense isn't present, lol.

Man I hate cheering for Texas, especially with Colt lol

Seriously though, this is football as it's meant to be.

Also, if it finishes this close and the defenses really look this good, the SEC better be careful what they do to each other because a 1 loss Texas or OU with the only loss being to the other, undefeated Big 12 champ in an intense close game would look awfully damn good.

    edit after texas td drive

    wow

definitely see Tech and KU, and more than likely Mizzou being way outmatched by either of these teams, both of the offenses are just as good as any of them, and the defenses are waaaay better

man none of the top big 12 teams are going to be able to run against each other at all this year

I dunno what to think about that outside run in jumbo package, give Brown credit for being creative there, but I think the team would've benefited a lot from a straight ram up the middle, even if it took 2 tries. (no way can you kick a field goal there, which they'd have had to if that outside run gets broken)

lol I don't care what happens in the 2nd half, this is the best first half of football, pro or college, I've seen in a long, long time

Texas is making big play after big play after big play. They'll have to keep that up to stay in it.
