I personally don't feel USC even played that great against a wounded ASU team.. beating em by 4 TDs and had 5 turnovers. Was a horrible game, but I can understand how they move up there.

Oklahoma State jumped what.. 9 spots? 17 to 8? I haven't looked at it. Is it around that area? Being @Mizzou causes you to jump that many spots. I personally think Missouri is overrated. Clearly you can't win with offense alone, or they would've beaten Oklahoma State. I do think Mizzou beats Texas this weekend though. That's my upset special. Also, I don't think Oklahoma State is that much better than Mizzou talent wise either. Chase Daniel had three costly turnovers in the second half. Turnovers fuck anyone over.
You're underestimating OSU's offense, I think. Again it's not that Mizzou's defense played bad (not arguing that it's not their weakness by any means), they played well, not great. There's just nothing you can do to stop so many of the plays that are made in the Big 12 this year, it's crazy.

I think Mizzou should've been about 8/9 at the start, and should be about 8/9 now. Nobody saw OSU coming, but I think they're every bit as good as KU, Mizzou, or Tech. If I was ranking them on just raw which team I think is best, I would probably go OSU, KU, Mizzou, Tech, but I'm biased.

Ohio State moved ahead of Mizzou because Ohio State lost early in the season to USC and then went to Wisconsin and beat them. It's not that Wisconsin is down this year. It's the fact that Wisconsin was something like 18-0 at home in the Big 10. That's probably why Ohio State got a lot of credit for that win.

Penn State went from 6 to 3 because where else would you put them? There's not much room in the jumbled Top 6 or 7 right now.

I dont get the part you're golly geeing. Mizzou beat Illinois 52-42, Penn State beat em 38-24. What's your point? Minnesota beat em by a TD. Who cares? Missouri and Penn State's wins over them don't look as impressive right now. I don't think Minnesota or Illinois are that good either. Illinois is just prone to mistakes. Typical Zook ball.
What I'm golly gee-ing is that Ohio State *barely* beat a sub-par Wisconsin team that Penn State absolutely blew out, while Mizzou had a fairly good game against a team Penn state had... a fairly good game against. Combine that with Ohio State getting roflstomped when they play a real quality team, compared to Mizzou barely losing a close one, and you have a team (ohio state) ranked ahead of a team (mizzou) I'm pretty damn confident would roll them like nothing.

I do think the Poll is shitty in some parts, but I don't think it's as retarded as you're trying to make it sound.
Meh, there's only so much variation there can be, just seems to me they fucked up about every spot that they could "get away with."

Neither one of them has a second marquee win, but they've both beaten other teams that are respectable. Later in the season, you could say the SEC schedule > Pac-10 schedule, but this early in the conference season, their schedules are pretty identical. They're pretty close in the polls, which makes sense to me. I don't know how you separate them at this point.
Because Florida just STOMPED an LSU team that's a damn good team, USC's big win was against a confused, unprepared team that doesn't belong in the top 10, and would be lucky to be top 25 at this point if it wasn't an Ohio State team.

Anyway, it's all good, Michigan State will fix that part up for us next week.

Considering LSU's biggest win thus far was against Auburn, who is playing just horrid right now (losing to Arkansas??? seriously!?), you could really say the same thing about LSU and that Florida just beat a very overrated team.

i'm a die hard LSU fan, it was painful to watch sat nights game but in reality I just don't think LSU is that good this year. LSU beat what looks like to be a bad auburn team this year. McCray is the jason david for LSU, tebow picked on him all night just like Mississippi state did.

Unless there is some miracle turn around in how Jared Lee plays QB, I see LSU losing to UGA and bama.

I predict a rematch really, LSU is better than that, and Florida *can* be that good any given week.

When Florida's playing well they look like a Big 12 team. I don't think they win in place of either OU or Texas in the game on Saturday though, even if they play as well as they did against LSU.

They definitely are a good example of what a defense that might not be considered that "great" when their raw athleticism (which is basically on par with OU or Texas's defenses) comes into play against these SEC teams that don't have that "wow" at quarterback.

I actually don't mind his Big XII bias as there are also a lot people clearly biased towards the SEC.

Stiker covered the LSU point for me, but I would also argue that a home loss to a team that has won 14 games in the previous four seasons is considerably more damaging than a road loss to a team that has won 19 games and finished third in its conference the last two. My point wasn't that one team was better than the other, it was simply that its hard to separate the two. And my point still stands, and it appears the voters agree with me.

Well put. He is, undeniably, the single biggest conference flag-waving yahoo of a honk I've ever seen on a non-school specific message board. At least he knows his shit, even if its biased.

edit: I'm curious, do people really not realize I'm just rubbing big 12 supremacy in your faces while I can? You do your best to bash it every possible opportunity, now it's my turn before they all beat the hell out of each other and end up with 2 losses while Penn State plays USC for the nc.

Or is it just trying to

The Big 12 has arguable the best crop of QBs ever in one conference at one time. The SEC is in what one could call a down year....despite this, people still have to debate which is best. I think that pretty much says it all.

The fact that you say it's arguable that a. this is the best crop of qb in one conference in one season ever, and b. that the big 12 is miles ahead of the sec right now as a result is just the whole telling yourself it can't be real thing.

I don't even have a stake in the conference rivalry. I love me some Louisville but there's no justifiable argument for Big East football. I think the Big 12 is better this year top to bottom (as I said, best crop of QBs in one conference ever and the SEC isn't "wft awesome" like years past, but in big games, I'll take an SEC team out of conference.

    Here's what I think happens...

    1. Texas - Loses 2 of the next 5, out of the race
    2. Alabama - Loses to LSU and to Florida in the SEC Championship. May lose to TN, idk
    3. Penn State - God I hope they win out, but I think they lose at the Shoe. If not, they'll choke against MSU
    4. Oklahoma - Win out and go to the national championship
    5. Florida - Win out and win the national championship

Edit: I didn't understand what your last quote towards me meant? I think the big 12 is better but it's because the SEC is down and the Big 12 has amazing QBs...I don't get it?

edit x2: The reason I said it's "arguable" they have the best crop is because I haven't went back in history and researched QB crops/conference/year. You haven't either. So someone who has could probably put up a compelling argument. And no, I don't think the Big 12 is "miles" ahead of the SEC. They are better, but I'm not buying "miles" ahead.

If Alabama plays the LSU team that showed up (or didn't show up) Saturday night, then I'm confident in Nick Saban's coaching to get them past that LSU team. Lee and Hatch looked horrendous. That's LSU's weakness. They have a nice front line on both sides of the ball, but QB play is horrible. That's why the Big 12 is >>> SEC this year. The Big XII has good QBs (or bad defenses) or a combination of both, while the SEC has bad QBs other than Stafford and Tebow. Hell, I think Stafford is a NFL prospect, but is a tad overrated right now. He makes some bad decisions. The bad QB play in the SEC is what makes the defenses look better than they are. Sure, there are some great defenses this year in the SEC, but I don't think they are as good as previous years. It's just the fact that the SEC doesn't have a solid crop of QBs.

As stated above, I think LSU is overrated. Winning @AU was great...when Auburn had 0 losses. Right now it doesn't mean jack. The win for Alabama against Clemson on a neutral field doesn't carry much either except that it's a "road" win. The win @UGA is still the most impressive. Putting up 31 on a team that's solid (in my opinion) is an impressive feat. Letting them back in during the second half, however, is not. Alabama has holes in their depth, and they are young. That's why I don't think they win the SEC Championship and obviously the NC.

I think right now, the National Championship game will either be USC and Florida, or Oklahoma and Florida. Texas should lose one or two, Penn State will probably get full of themselves and drop one, and Bama as I said will probably drop one. If not in the regular season, it will probably be to Florida in the SEC Championship (assuming Florida beats UGA in Jacksonville.)
