Bama? People can't honestly believe they have a chance at keeping up with any of the top big 12 teams.

Georgia? lolsu scored 38 on them, any of the top big 12 are putting up 50+

Florida? Maybe, if their offense was consistent, but when the opposing defense is just as fast as theirs, their biggest advantage in every game they play is out the window.

So what then? Boise State lol?
Obviously Alabama, Georgia, and Florida because they're ranked and in the SEC. Seriously though, at this point I don't see any team as better than Texas. Watching that consistent and mechanical offense produce is like watching a perfect figure skating/gymnastics routine (no homo).

Amazing. Purely amazing. The fact that the Big 12 puts up 50+ points says nothing to you about defense? More like lack of defense. SERIOUSLY. How the fuck did Kansas State pull off those short screens into long runs against Oklahoma, and then hang with them until their 5 turnovers caught up with them? Don't tell me K-State's athletes match up against Oklahoma's. Not even your biasedness can make you that blind. Oklahoma State and Texas are the only two teams in the Big 12 with ANY resemblance of a defense. Texas Tech has been uber impressive too, but let's face it; Reesing made some really horrible errors in that game and it was over in the first quarter.

Either way, who do I think can match up against Texas/Texas Tech/whatever other Big 12 team? Penn State. Hello? They are undefeated, and the most balanced team in college football right now in my opinion. Don't let the 13-6 "Omg, their offenses suck" fool you. Offenses struggled, but that was a ton of good defense. Bama? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how long their depth holds out. Who are you to assume they can't hang with a Big 12 team? USC? Maybe. They are always in the mix, no matter how much we all "hate" them. UGA? UGA/LSU had one of those rare games where the score looked like a Big 12 game because no defense was being played. UGA's defense isn't honestly THAT bad. Calling lolsu is also stupid. They've given up 51/52 points to Florida/UGA. That's the first time in their history I believe. They aren't what they have been the last couple years, and they miss Bo at Nebraska for sure. Calling them lol though? Come on now. They aren't Auburn.

I'm sorry, but using the excuse "The QBs are better than everyone else" excuse for why there's no defense being played is old and boring. As I said, the Oklahoma State/Texas game is probably the best game I've seen, even with mistakes. Teams were ACTUALLY playing something that resembled defense. It was amazing. You talk about SEC Cocksuckers? Get the fuck off of the Big 12's cock for god sakes. you are giving the conference a horrible image.

Also, before you say "Well if that works for the Big 10 with low scores being "Good defense", why can't high scores be "good offense"? Because I actually watched the Oklahoma/K-State game on FSN, and the amount of blown coverages/wide open holes that showed up in that game was just sad. Granted I saw the same holes in the UGA/LSU game, but that was a RANDOM circumstance. This season has brought about a ton of high scoring SEC games because the conference is in a down year. The Big 12 is better, even without their defenses. Imagine if they actually had some.

cliff notes: K-state stayed "just" 20 points behind OU, therefore OU's defense is bad since they were playing 3rd stringers up 4 touchdowns at halftime. The fact that 3 of the 4 teams that scored more than 2 touchdowns on them have better offenses than any in the sec is meaningless.

Cliff notes: Aki really hates the big 12 and honestly believes a team that scores 13 points against a team that gave up 35 in the first 3 quarters to USC has a chance in hell against teams with better offenses than USC.

Also, LSU giving up 100 points in 2 games is nowhere near as bad as OU giving up 100 points in 3 games against WAY the fuck better offenses, in fact it's utterly meaningless.

    Yeap, I'm the biased one.

The best part is that the show goes on.

OSU still has OU and Tech, Texas still has Tech and big 12 championship, Tech has OU, Texas, OSU in the next 3 weeks, and OU still has OSU and Tech

I wonder if Aki's noticed yet that if you take away App State and North Texas, LSU is giving up 33 (fucked up my math before) points a game.

As far as SEC posters go, Akiyama is pretty reasonable....
Pretty sure he's not saying the Big 12 sucks. I think he's calling bullshit on your ranking the top 4 teams in the land to all be in the Big 12.

It may be the homer in me but PSU is still AT LEAST the #3 team in the country. They beat a good OSU team who's finally finding their identity at home, in the shoe, at a rare night game and with their backup QB at the end. Nobody will go in there and win easily.

If anyone in the Big 12 knew how to tackle the scores wouldn't be anywhere near as high as they are. They seriously have the worst defensive playcalling I've ever seen...and I play Madden online a lot. And now I really know why the Big 12 teams have "great" rush defenses...because NOBODY IN THE BIG 12 RUNS THE BALL. If your opponant only runs the ball 5 times a game then it's easy to hold them to 30 yards on the ground.

Ignoring your gigantic Big 12 homerism...how the hell do you ever possibly see Tech putting up 70 on a team who actually plays defense??

Who the hell has Tech played that actually resembles a balanced team?

I was thinking about 2 years ago where most people felt Michigan and Ohio St. were the 2 best teams out there. In reality the Big Ten was just overrated that year and all their conference wins were inflated. I wanted to compare the most notable non-conference wins of all the teams in the race.

    Big XII:
Oklahoma St. --- Washington St. 39-13 (unimpressive considering how bad WSU is)

Texas -- Arkansas 52-10 (impressive win)

Texas Tech --- Nevada 35-19 (a cupcake for top 10 standards)

Oklahoma -- TCU 35-10 (most impressive win out of all Big XII non-conf games)
    Cincinnati 52-26 (also impressive)

    Big Ten:
Penn St. -- Oregon State 45-14 (impressive win considering they blew out a team that beat USC)

    SEC:
Alabama -- Clemson 34-10 (What looked like some big win at one time is now a cupcake)

Georgia -- Central Michigan 56-17 (an upper level mid-major, but still an impressive margin) Arizona St. 27-10 (less impressive now than it was then) Georgia Tech (could help for some BCS points if they beat them later in the year)

Florida -- Miami 26-3 (impressive) Florida St. (A chance for BCS points later on)

    Pac 10:
USC -- Virginia 52-7 (less impressive back then than it looks now considering Virginia is a totally different team) Ohio St. 35-3 (most impressive non-conf win out of anyone) Notre Dame (will be a timely quality win for BCS points when they beat them)

    Longshots:

Utah Michigan 25-23 (only beating Michigan by 2 this year proves you don't belong in the race)

Boise St. Oregon 37-32 (quality win, but USC blew out Oregon)

    No Shots:
Ball St. will be favored to go undefeated for the season, but their SoS is way too weak.

Man, there's some long fucking posts in here that I don't want to reply to. I'll pull a Plow and Cliffs notes it.

    1. Florida is going to blow out Bama.
    2. The Big 12 has no defense. None. Whatsoever
    3. Penn State looks really really really good. I'd rank them 2. Holding OSU to 6 points in the shoe is something pretty amazing.
    4. Penn State to the national championship baby
    5. Penn State to the national championship baby
    6. Penn State to the national championship baby

What's going to suck is a 1-loss Florida team getting left out for a one loss big 12 team who I think Florida is clearly better than.

Actually I don't want Stafford anywhere near Heisman talk, cause I know he has a potential legendary NFL career ahead of him in a year or two. I just don't see how Bradford can stay in anymore after his passing efficiency being toted as his main draw. He just threw a horrible game against Kansas State. Sure, he put up some TD's and passing yards, but Colt is still throwing 80+% and putting the same numbers up. There are other players that should be looked at more now, Bradford has a loss and his efficiency might be starting to dip...why keep looking at someone who isn't performing consistently over someone who is?

Because South Carolina was an unranked team who at the time had a statistical superior defense in all of the NCAA. And again at the time, people were discrediting UGA cause we didnt put 30+ on them. Arizona was given short fields SO many times to work with, and yes it was a great defensive fight, but when given short fields and amazing field position that often and to come up with nothing more often than not is sad.

Also, Southern Cal lost to unranked Oregon State. And somehow they vault teams for no real reason because they hang 69 points on a 0-8 washington team? Please. That is a gnat hanging around because theyre adored by the press. The computers hated them and rightfully so.

As for Tennessee, give them shit for having a down year all you want they still play smart and quick defense. Though just like Auburn right now, 3-4 right after a solid loss and your team is going back for a home game against a ranked SEC rival? You should have your team fired up better than 9 points worth. Yes, you are likely heading for 3-5 regardless, but you should still have a push to play elevated motivated football which Tennessee couldnt even achieve at home now.

Of course my SEC homerism is bad. Your point?

    My top 10.

    1. Texas
    2. Alabama
    3. Penn State
    4. Texas Tech
    5. Oklahoma

Yeah... I guess that's why you missed the underlying meaning of some of my post where I said the Big 12 was better than the SEC, yet I can't handle the truth. Okay. I'm saying the Big 12 has zero defense. I'm not saying they suck. Also, did you not see where I call the SEC teams like Tennessee, Auburn, and such bad? No, probably not. I'm too homerish. I'd NEVER admit faults of a SEC team. We're the best!

How can anyone want Penn State or USC in the National Championship? If it's anything other than Big 12 Champ vs SEC Champ, the debate will never be settled.. at least for this season. '-'

I can't really make an argument for USC since they lost...but Penn State is legit. They have showed up to play every week and looked good doin it. Alamaba and Texas look good...but Texas hasn't seen a defense yet and Alabama is letting crappy teams hang around. Still, if they do what they need to do and win out, PSU will be left out of the NC hunt. But if they lose then they only have themselves to blame. You can't leave an undefeated major conference team out in favor of a 1 loss team, the debate will certainly be settled.

Cool to see 3 non-BCS teams in the top 12. Not surprised to see Tech move past USC, either.

Oddly, on the USA Today poll, 'Bama got no first place votes. Penn State got 3, Texas got the rest.

Glad Texas Tech moved past USC. I'm surprised almost even though it's rightly deserved. What I'm surprised with is Oklahoma staying at #4, but you can't really put Florida up ahead of them with them being an unranked team too.

As far as Penn State getting votes in the Coaches Poll, it's been said the Coaches Poll is eh anyway, but I do agree with giving them votes over Bama. Their 13-6 win, on the road, at night and at the Horseshoe is a lot more impressive than Bama's win @Knoxville where it's not really tough to play anymore.
