Good game for Team USA today.

As far as the gymnastics go, it was probably lacking the technical element aspect of things and what not, which the Chinese do well. As far as the two shitty pommel horse routines, they both had very low starting scores to begin with, so big errors would obviously shoot it to hell. Wasn't sure what was wrong with the last pommel horse routine, but it was only the 7th highest? That doesn't seem right, lol.

I know people were complaining about the Gymnastics judging so far the entire olympics, so it's not just us complaining. Our old coach from the '96 Olympics was complaining about it to Costas too.

I guess the Summer Olympics are a good reminder that Canada really is a small country when it comes to population. We're only the 36th largest nation in the world so we only have a fraction of the talent base to draw upon. Granted, we do shine more brightly at the Winter Games, but it's hard to really compete against larger, more populous, and better funded nations.

Yeah, Canada is by far better at winter sports than summer ones. i was just reading on wiki that in the 2006 winter games in Italy, Canada placed third in total medals and finished fifth according to the official way the IOC does medal standings (they judge placement based on how many gold medals a country has and not by total medals).

Yeah, I think it's bull that they pull baseball and softball but keep stuff like dressage in. Apparently spectators got up and left half way through the dressage event on the weekend in Hong Kong and were having difficulty giving their tickets away lol

I'm thinking Canada's good chances for medals for womens team sports will come in softball and maybe even soccer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the men's heavy eight rowing to place a medal, but I don't realistically think that a gold is in the books this year. Canada's overall performance so far has been rather lacklustre (like the poor lone Cdn boxer who got absolutely trounced by the Kazakhstan boxer in his first and only round 21-1 decision bout, ouch)

Anyway, I'll keep talking to myself. I feel bad for Kobe; he just can't get his jumpshot going yet. I'm sure he will before the Olympics are over, though.

I watched it, but my kid was up and I had her to tend to as well. Plus, the game was rather boring, so not a whole lot to say. The US has played terrible and are winning by 30+. Most interesting game today was the Chinese almost upsetting Spain. Isn't Spain supposed to be in contention for a medal?

Yeah, Spain is supposed to be our toughest competition. Lithuania looks really good too, but their Group isn't as strong as ours. And even though Spain pulled away from Greece in their opening game, Greece played more like themselves in their second game and looked really good earlier today. We better play a little more soundly Thursday and Saturday with those 2 teams coming up.

Although we started and ended pretty flat in our game this morning, there were glimpses of what we can do, like usual. I doubt Coach K will give our team as much free time before any upcoming game. Wade's baseline drive+dunk, Kobe's 360 dunk, and James' volleyball spike of a block were really the only spectacular-looking plays we had. And even still, I guess I'm pretty easy to entertain; I enjoy our basketball games because of the pace in international ball. I can't wait for Thursday morning.. I wish we had games daily. >.>

He said something along the line of, that jerk wasn't too clean, he was jerking it all over the place, or something like that and it made me lol. Also, does phelps still have the ability to get 7 or 8 or w/e it was gold medals to beat spitz's records for most in a single olympics?

Have you watched him (phelps) lol? Was it last night, maybe the night before, he was doing the breaststroke (or medley I think). Was cruising in like 3rd place up until the last 50 meters. Announcers didn't seem concerned at all. In that 50m short distance, he went from not leading to winning by over a second. The dude is insane. also is awesome.
