I can believe no one has mentioned this (digitally inserted fireworks for opening ceremonies) or this (original singer for Ode To The Motherland told she was too ugly to be on TV, so it was lipsynced by a "cuter" girl).
Oh, China.
I know I heard them say it on the NBC broadcast at least. Didn't seem like they were trying to hide it nor can I see any reason why they would. The too-ugly singer part is pretty funny though.
edit: Is there anyone else on PST that has been watching some of the TV broadcasts for the Olympics (especially their primetime broadcast)? I cannot figure out for the life of me why the hell NBC thinks its necessary to tape-delay the broadcast three hours on PST and show it live on EST. I could at least understand the decision if it were truly "primetime" but tonight its clearly not. Their primetime broadcast is live from 10pm-12:30pm on the east coast, which would be PERFECT at 7pm-9:30pm on the west coast if they just aired it live here as well. Its really annoying, especially when they offer no alternatives as the only place you can catch the big events (like Phelps swimming) is on that broadcast (I didn't even see a swimming section available in online listings last I checked), which gives west coasters absolutely zero ways to see it live.
Airing it live on the west coast won't affect EST at all, will allow west coasters to actually see some good live content, and honestly should BOOST ratings by pushing the broadcast in to the perfect primetime time frame. I must be missing something because it seems like this is a lose-lose situation that hurts viewers and NBC's ratings. The time doesn't bug me, but staying up past midnight to watch something that I've already been reading about online for 3 hours is a waste of my time.
edit2: actually I was wrong, its 8-12 broadcast. I guess there is some incentive to tape delay, but I still think they'd be better off showing it live and then looping the first 3 hours at the end to fill up the time slot for all the people who don't turn on the TV til past 7. That way people can still view it live if they want, but still catch it in NBCs "primetime 10-12" slot on a tape delay not much worse than it is already on.
wow... I didn't know the west coast people are getting everything tape delayed 3 hours O_O That is dumb...
I could never understand what it would be like living on the west coast, or anywhere but the east for that matter. It would piss me off so much to see everything hours after everyone else.
Man, that was crazy. Three straight races, three straight WR's broken. Time to see if Phelps can keep it up.
Here we go!
Michael Phelps is unreal.
lol, rediculous.
that's a short dress his sister is wearing ;o
Soccer at 5 AM - who's getting up to watch!
the olympics are making me a fucking racist because I hate those piece of shit chinese.. THERE IS -NO- FUCKING WAY THOSE GIRLS ARE 16 OR OVER. they look like their fucking 10, even bela said he doubts they're of qualifying age. The scoring is fucked in favor for the chinese in everything during these games, fuck that country.
edit: phelps is pretty sweet, but I still think he's a fucking moron :d
lol @ 16...That last girl is pushing 13 at most.
Does anyone know if CBC or BBC have online viewing options for main events like swimming like NBC does? If so, are they restricted against USA? NBC is like rubbing in how stupid their PST broadcast is by acting like it is live. I bet most PST people who don't read results online probably don't even know its not lol.
Why is Phelps a moron? I haven't heard why yet.
Haven't seen the olimpix, have I missed anything worthwhile?
Uneven bars always makes me so nervous, actually so does balance beam. I pretty much hold my breath the whole time Americans are on those two events.
Reallllllllllly hoping the Americans can win this year, but with the Chinese pre-teen-team and the obvious favoring by the judges, I'm not holding my breath.![]()
