I can only second Sept's feelings on this. It seems incredibly two sided to spend so much time and effort fighting the RMT force... just do do essentially the same thing with these "end game item" programs tied to overpriced junk

Brilliant Marketing would be to sell items we already know and want. i.e. Play Arts figures, jewelry based on items already in-game, etc.

Brilliant Marketing is adding in-game items that come with something people want anyways. i.e. Piano Collection/harpsichord

This is called brilliant marketing.
SE is a business, and they are in this to make money.

Not only that, but compared to other MMO's the cash to "must get" ratio is pretty low, and the white noise of "must buy new game related bling" is really low.

Look at the piano collection, it was actually a really good deal for the quality of the item all around.

SE has never added an "in-game item" reward that has had any effect at all on game balance, and I doubt they ever will do such a thing.

nah you guys are nuts this item ingame will have not only enchantment: barwatera, it's timer will be every real life week and have +3 water resist and +1 mind. Totally worth 100 bucks or whatever ridiculous price they sell it for.

First FFXI collector's item I bought, if they all fall in line with this type of quality, I'd buy more.

The CD is incredible. My wife HATES video games, she thinks that I'd actually spend more time staring at her if I didn't play them or something, I don't know, she tries talking to me while exping.

Anyway, I put the CD on in the car to calm down my son, she commented on how much she liked the music. The face she made when I told her where it came from was worth the price of the CD five-fold.

It's actually a sRPG, but you can turn on little cutscenes for the attacks if you want to.
All kinds of units in there... the G Gundam units are my favorites, heh.

Actually, other MMO's have been doing this for a long time, and some MMO's have this concept as it's core payment system.
