EU Vista POL and old discs

Hi,
I just got a laptop *waits for people to finish rolling their eyes* and am trying to install... well you know what the deal is.

I got the Vista POL US version, but then found out I needed the EU version, because that's where I live/got my original account with. I got that and it gave me a critical error every time. Now I don't know if that has anything to do with my previous attempts to install regular EU POL and US Vista POL. AFAIK the uninstall of those was thurough. With US Vista POL my FFXI install disc says POL is not installed. When I install Old EU POL I get to install FFXI np though. But of course, the Old EU POL doesn't even run. So I tried installing the US Vista POL on top of the Old POL, which seeeeemed to work fie up to the "don't forget your friends and family" message then it gives an error that FFXI is not installed.

So, are there any registry tricks I can do to make that last setup work? Is there any other way to go about it?

Need to find the EU vista POL link - go into the POL Europe site and download it from there (not the NA site).

I already did download it, and like I said in my first post it won't install. Critical/fatal error, all that jazz.

BTW, it works now. The critical error didn't show up after I did
Old POL > FFXI > NA Vista POL > EU Vista POL > all expansions
Still don't know why, but it works, so I don't question it.
