Barthello you can take me off the list I returned the game this morning and paid and reserved merc's 2, this madden is horrible, the overall gameplay sucks. While it looks pretty, it doesnt play pretty at all. recievers droping routes for no reason, QB's overthrowing recievers for no reason is annoying and I found it hard to enjoy.

Same I thought last years was pretty crappy especially in the presentation department. Is this better, and if so how much better. I like the IQ system and its kinda attractive. Based the answers to these I'd consider buying it and signing up for the league as the Giants if still possible.

Hold on now - maybe it does suck. 08 was *terrible.* In fact, since 05 they've progressively gotten worse, no thanks to having no competition. If 08 was a pile of shit, this one I would assume is steaming.

@Headspace: No if you read properly, I hate the gameplay, as much hype and bullshit they put into it, it should play better. Dropping pass routes, stupid A.I., and inconsistancy in Qb accuracy is uncalled for. To add to it they fucked up the wrap up tackling as well. If you know anything at alla bout madden you would know what pushes it, is its gameplay and play ability and this one has neither.

I agree Tyr they havent made a solid madden title since 04 and for those seeking a review, both gamespot and IGn have it reviewed, although the IGN one, the guy had to be smoke dout or some shit.

Before I give my brief review of the few hours I've been playing (been playing for like 5hr only, franchise mode simmed 1 season played 3 of the games.) I'll state that since Madden went to the next gen consoles I couldn't stand it, I agree that since 05 or 06ish it's been going heavily downhill. To the point that despite having a 360 I've bought the ps2 version each of the last few years, and last years was bad enough that I really didn't play it all.

I like this years game a lot more than the last few, there's a good bit left to be desired but the gameplay seems a lot better, less of an arcade feel at least in my opinion. When I played the 360 version with my friends last year it didn't have the same authentic feel that I thought the older ones had. I agree that the fact that there is no competition whatsoever makes it so EA puts minimal effort into each years game but this one so far seems at least decent compared to the previous horribleness.

To Kyo- What sort of routes were you running that the passes were way off? The few games I've played I had Flacco as my QB and I haven't really had any complaints about accuracy, my first game I was 20-24 with 0 interceptions (Playing on All-Pro). Granted I run the ball mostly and have only thrown deep a handful of times per game, but I haven't noticed any horrible AI or completely erratic passes. Did you make sure to plant your feet before throwing? If you're holding back and throwing off your back foot or throwing on the run pass accuracy goes significantly down but that is realism not poor game-making.

I'm not a fanboy, I will jump for joy when Madden finally has competition and is forced to put some effort into the game each year, but for now this years game seems liveable, although my opinion may change the more I play.

I play with the cowboys, always have and always will. I noticed many times within the first few seconds of their routes sometimes recivers would break their path. The play I would call in one case for instance was a fly and the reciever(glen ran a slant or would just stop).

Also about the passing, I understand how the QB physics are designed to work and each case I saw the QB overthrow for no reason he was flat footed and not moving, stayed within the pocket. Also had one case where I assigned a hot route to TO and he ran his original route instead of the hot route.

As far as dumb Ai goes, I cant tell you how many times the oposing QB would throw a pass and the defender, I wasnt controlling wouldnt react to the ball. AS I said I play with the cowboys and I always use ware for every play so never controlled a corner although as normal would switch for tackles and such.

Another thing I didnt like about the franchise mode was the play show bluff they have, like the fucking CPU is guessing ur play? I also dont like the rewinds either, allowing u to rewind a play to retry it isnt very realistic.

Kinda sad I rented the game(although I have a game pass at BB) to find the things I didnt like about the game and actualy give it another shot because I was excited about playing against a few people from BG.

Edit- One complaint I do have is how horrendous the announcing is, it is better than the guy the last few years who acted like it was some Blitz or other arcade game but man this years main announcers voice is just completely boring, no enthusiasm at all. The secondary announcer who analyzes the plays and stuff is decent but the one who just says what happened and for how many yards etc. is soooooo horrible.
