So I was looking into buying one of these. Most likely the 32 gig.
First off I was wondering if there were any predicted price drops that I should wait for.
Second how do you go about jailbreaking it?

You could get an iphone, too. They just tacked an ipod touch onto a phone, so you get it all in one nice neat package!
They don't make the iPhones bigger than 16gb though, right?
And the iPhone costs about 1700 dollars total unless you buy it without the plan then it's like 600 something bucks. 32 GB Touch is a cheaper alternative I think only like 499 bucks, while the 16 GB is a nice 399. If I were you I'd wait until Flash Memory is cheaper [which will drop the price of the phone].
iphone is $300 for just the phone >.> and uh however much the plan is. no more than a regular data package, same for blackberrys. I just got a ipod touch (due to getting a macbook), but i upgraded mine for $100 to get a 16 gig, and its pretty sweet. It's fun to be able to browse the net in stores or when I'm bored w/o my laptop. though light on memory its not a huge deal since i only have 8 gigs of music. another 8 for maybe a few movies but i have my laptop for that if i really need. and to Penthesilea, yeah 16g is the biggest iphone :\
What good is an iphone without a plan? $1700 is a bit skewed since it includes money you'd be paying anyway for your cell phone.
this is what i was getting at. but said poorly
and edit* you don't need to pay up front for the plan do you? its still monthly? if you pay monthly itll only be an extra $25 a month or slightly more depending on the data plan you get. i was going to get a blackberry until Verizon said i could only get a blackberry if I bought a data plan which was $90 something a month instead of $70.
I really don't want an iPhone as I already got a blackberry with verizon so I'm tacked in on another 2 year plan! And I pay about 50 for my plan since I'm in on a family plan and leaving that would also raise the price! I'm looking at an iPod touch because its an iPhone minus the phone and the bill! Therefore in the long run it will be cheaper than switching to cingular and getting an iPhone.
So does anyone have anything to say about my second question?
No, but I was also thinking of getting a 32Gig Ipod Touch. If I do, I'm ordering one of these:

I bought an 8GB iPod touch...I won't be loading it with tons of video (plus you can watch Youtube on it...) so it was a good size for what I want to use it for..mainly MP3 playing and youtube. It's got all sorts of nifty gadgets, like a weather channel and time zone channel for wherever you want to see...love it. Word of advice though: make sure you buy a case to go with it at the same time. The backplate scratches extremely easily. I bought a clear plastic case with a screen protector and it works great. So far it's been pretty awesome.
I had an Ipod Touch for about 3 days, then returned it.
I got it because I knew it would be fun to play with. I only needed it for music, I have a psp I can put full movies on if I wanted, and I don't care too much for youtube so nothing was more than a toy on the touch other than the mp3 player. It really was alot of fun to play with, however All of the clear screens for the cover that I bought I hated, and I only found 1 case for it that had a clip on it that I remotely liked, and it was still pretty ugly lol. I returned it for a nano, which saved me 50$, and does everything I need it to. Plus, the armbands on the nano are much nicer then any case or band for the touch for running, which I do everyday, so it was a big plus for me.
Thought this might be relevant to OP
