The T&T mimic can definitely be soloed. I've done it myself as nin/rdm. Antidotes are a given, and you have to be very careful not to trigger a death trap while shadows are down, but it's doable. IIRC the large chest hits slow but hard, while the small chest hits for much less and much faster. There are probably other differences in their stats, I believe my nukes were doing more to the large chest.
Overall it's a pretty tough fight and luck can be a factor, but you have tons of time to take it down. The mimic does NOT aggro, so you can RR in the center of the BC if you need to. Just be sure to bring a lot of tools.
Awesome, thanks. Think I may give it a try as Nin/dnc then.
Re: Royale Ramble
That's the one we do. Guaranteed O. Ingot is really good, with the same chance at D.Ingot and D.Cloth as the other KSNMs. That being said, from my experience, I wouldn't suggest doing this KSNM with less than 5, and 6 would be preferred.
If think if you were to PLD RDM duo straight tank, there would not be enough damage to finish in time. At first, it hits fast enough it's very tough to get off cures. Around 70-50% life is the best part, as its attacks slow way down, but are still physical.
Towards the end, Fe'e stops attacking with tentacles completely, and switches to a mode where it's either Ink Jet (slightly beefed up compared to when it used it as a TP move when tentacles were still intact) which is Blind + damage + slight knockback, or Maelstrom (possibly Whirlwind too, I forget, since they're so similar). Ironically, it's the final form that hurts the most. Tose moves can be brutal as hell.
If you don't bring a third to DD, I'd suggest going for the kite/nuke strat all the way. I doubt a RDM would have the MP to support a straight-tanking PLD and be the primary DD in this fight.
It's true but I don't recommend doing it because it's such a dumb BC last time I did it.
-Casting magic on the cardians makes them rage, to the point of invincibility if you keep doing it.
-All of the Cardians keeps spamming hate reset moves making the PLD very useless.
-All of them hit fast, hard and have en-effects, One had en-dispel (dispelled the PLD's cover and killed me)
All in all, I will never do it again![]()
2/8 is not the norm on UO, you are saying you get roughly 3.5mil every 320 seals or basicly over 10k per seal in value? If that were the case either PCC would plummet in value or everyone would be rich as hell. Here to give the opposite side of the spectrum, 1/53 on PCC in UO. I've given up on actually getting something worthwhile from UO, I'd rather spend 60 seals on UIA and get 50k each time then get at most 15k from UO.
False on the magic thing. As best we can tell on the red mage, the buff (to their defensive and offensive stats) occurs when it's 2hr wears off (or there is some other trigger, not magic). We tried not debuffing it once back when we were learning the fight and it still went batshit crazy after chainspell wore off. We fully debuff it now, and do fine.
Our general setup is 2 mages (rdm + whm usually, but irrelevant), 1 "holder" (anything at all works, brd is ideal because they can prebuff then sit around and hold the whm out of cure range) and 3 /nin melee.
The BC is by far the best KSNM (or BCNM) we have ever done. Yea, it can be a bitch, but once you get it down, guaranteeing the O Ingot on every single orb is just amazing. Nothing else even comes close. Just expect to lose a few times, and learn from it with your group, and once you figure it out for your group, you'll never go back to another KSNM unless you just -really- want some weapon. Averaging something between 250 and 300k per orb is good. ;p
I have another question regarding Royale Ramble. Is it possible to get 2 O ingots? On wiki, its listed as 100% drop and also listed in a grouping of "One of these will drop"
What is T & T?
Doing UiA with RDM, BLM, and PLD. Mostly have the RDM sit/stand/sleep in the middle of the BC just gravity and bind Fe, Refresh both the PLD and BLM and chill. PLD kites, BLM nukes it down. And if the RDM is good, the RDM can also help nuke down Fe and still have enough MP left over for everything else.
To Tubbers and Lexa, thanks for the comments on my 'duo - PLD, RDM?' post.
I'll stick the idea on the backburner for now I think; I'm not at all interested in the fight unless we're duoing it (simple challenge and fun trumps the prospect of bringing along a third member for a guaranteed win on a shitty BCNM). Lexa, you mentioned the possibility of putting out enough damage in time -- that's my biggest worry, admittedly. For the cure-interrupt aspect I was actually going to put my reputation on the line and suggest to the PLD that she go as /WHM for Stoneskin and Aquaveil (AV seems to work wonders on Tough-and-under mobs). /BLU would make a nice SJ option I think, but unavailable currently.
Must admit also, I'm actually pretty interested in throwing 50 seals at T&T duo now, just because I've not yet had had an opportunity to kill a wooden box. Woop woop new horizons.
EDIT: Oh and cdgreguh, T&T is a BCNM50 called Treasure and Tribulations. Three chests; open one; instantly get drops or spawn a mimic. Mimic can still be defeated for drops (huzzah).
Could T&T be done with two BST or a BST and a mage (BLM WHM RDM SMN BRD)?
Edit: I mean actually being able to kill the mimic^^;
Thanks, I *thought* T&T was mimics, but as someone before said his whole post was about consistency and that always seemed like lottery luck to me. Thought I was missing something big and obvious lol.
Which is usually how I do it, actually. You can easily end up lobbing in a Thunder/Blizzard or three in the middle of things, no problem. The BLM can easily wind up an AM or two if they want to and it doesn't end up being a problem. 0/whatever on club, but hey, it's an easy bit of pocket change and I do end up using the teleport rings.
Yes, it can drop 2 O.ingots. This is the BC I use to farm my salvage headpiece on. Its not TOO hard considering your setup and its downright fun compared to other bc's. And yeah, casting ANY spell at all on the mobs is really really bad. The only hard mob is the King, the 2 queens are jokes.
