Over the years I have heard many people talk shit about every linkshell.

Shit talk will always happen about every LS. Because there will always be something the other LS does something you don´t agree with or not how you are supposed to do it.

To some people they just can't get over the fact that someone can hit a macro before them

Well I like to think not everyone uses bot. It's kind of a dream world. I been in both ls that have used bots and ls that haven't. I know what it's like to lose 3hrs to some botting ls. We all been there. Over 100ppl camp fafnir a day. When you got over 100ppl wanting the same thing of course people are gonna cheat. It's like that in vanadiel and in RL too.

Well if I look at it from your perspective if it's hard to out claim Vs a bot and AV out claims almost every ls including thanatos that bots then that must mean....nvm rather not have half the server after me.

I don't play on PC and have always tried to ignore End-game drama, so I never really understood how bots worked. What's a packet bot? And didn't the grace period help in anyway? 'Cause I've claimed HNMs myself when surrounded by notorious Linkshells, and I know a friend who tried botting once and it didn't get him anything.

I think the biggest reason people get pissed of at "slow-killing" linkshells is the fact that these "slow-killing" linkshells outclaim the "Cool-fast-killing-no-time-to-waste-must-claim-and-monopolize-every-HNM-on-the-server" linkshells who use a bot.

Honest to god, the standard FFXIAPP or lomrargus or whatever bot you're using that's not a packet bot gives you very little advantage over somebody else who isn't in the case of kings; all a bot does is let you know the monster popped, target a specific moment in which to attempt to claim, and then let you know who ended up claiming. Whether or not you get locked out, the mob is already claimed, or you claim it when your spell goes off is entirely up to whatever the server decided the lockout time should be.

Those bots are pressing buttons for you, literally. The bots thanatos just spent a small fortune on are different.

I've claimed a few things using the spell list. Botting is just as random as spamming. As Sendra said, with claim delay, it really makes no difference. Unless you have a lot of them, and they are coordinated perfectly, I guess.

When people say an LS bots, this is what they have in mind. LS that consistently claim by the same circle of people week in, week out are most likely botting, setting their bot's delays slightly off from each other so they have a large delay area covered.

That kind of just perpetuates the attitude that "everyone bots so we should too".

I use to live in Temple of Uggelipah camping Thiefs Knife and I remember one time I killed the NM and then logged off. Logged back on an hour later right around when the NM could be popping if people were killing PHs in a timely matter. The NM popped literally 5 seconds after I logged on and I claimed it. Michaera from BG proceeded to call me a packet sniffing botter. I didn't know there was packet sniffing bots available for PS2 players lol. Anyway my point? Is that as soon as someone loses claim they will call you a botter regardless if it is true or not.

Now you might not believe me since you need to see it for yourself but I did get to see first hand that you don't need a bot to claim it just helps the lazy and desperate.

Claimed a Fafnir once too but that has got to be the hardest shit ever on PS2 because it has to literally pop on top of you to see it on time in a crowded aery.

That's where the bot is most useful. It guarantees a claim attempt unless someone from another LS claims before when the bot is set to attempt a claim. Most useful when an area is so packed, you wouldn't be able to target the mob the moment it pops.
