    Rip sprites from PS2 games?

Is there anyway to rip sprites from PS2 games? Namely I wanted to make a new avatar from Odin Sphere, but google and other sites have failed me for days, and I am unable to find any animations, sprite sheets, anything.

Conversly I guess I could run a PS2 emulator and record what I want? Rather not though, but in any case, what is a good PS2 emulator?

    Thanks.

There are good PS2 emulators, you just need a decent machine to run them. (Google is your friend). Dual Core processor is pretty much a must as well.

No, not really. They may run, but, NONE of them play even most of the games. Those that play 'a lot' of games, play almost none of them through the game; they crash at some point or other unrecoverably.

I suppose you haven't tried them in awhile because I played through ALL of FFXII without a single crash. Just minor framerate issues and sound glitches.

looks and works better then ps2 imo.....well my ps2....lol.............

as for the OP, what about the guy that did the aprilfools FF joke thing where he ripped the models from FF12 and edited them in 3DSmax or something? Might be worth looking that up if you really want something official. Then again if your just looking to get a picture, an emulator is the best way.

I suppose you haven't tried reading the entire post in awhile because I never mentioned the incapability of an emulator to run FF12 from start to finish.

    http://www.pcsx2.net/compat.php?p=1&...s3=1&s4=1&s5=1

Odin Sphere is compatible with PCSX2

I was using FF12 as an example because you made the PS2 emulator look/sound like complete garbage which it isn't, and no where close to.

It's pretty easy and not too expensive to get a digital video recorder card and program and that's probably by far the easiest way to do what you want. I guess the emulator isn't bad either but it might take some tweaking to get to work like most emulators and you'd have to run fraps or something unless you just wanted a screen shot.

Shrug, I've played around with all the ones I could find, and have had lackluster performance from any / all of them. They are pretty much garbage; enjoy playing your game(s?) on it, but, they're not gewd.

I'm sorry, but you're just wrong here. PS2 emulation requires some config to get working properly, but nearly every game works for me. The only series I ever have any real issues with is the Guitar Hero series, since there seems to be a bit of an issue with button lag on them.

Either your computer sucks, your processor isn't multi-core, you have a virus, or you fail at reading the manual.

Oh, congratulations. You win the internet.

BTW, in case its in question, E6850 ([email protected]) 8800GT, 2GB DDRAM, using XP, recently formatted, soo.. Donno. All I know is I spent the better part of two weeks of my online time just searching for a working PS2 emulator, and from all the forums I joined / talked on and emulators I DL'd, configured, and tried myself, both with multiple plugins and some I debugged myself (with what little I know of that stuff) I could not get it to work right, and heard basically the same across the board.

I guess the lesson here is you win at PS2 emulation, congrats

No, the lesson here is that you are wrong. PCSX2 works quite well for the vast majority of games, and anyone who knows what they are talking about (including people in this thread) will agree.

If you wanna keep telling me I'm wrong, go right ahead. You could use a few more posts, after all. Hoorah!

arguing aside, let me know if you're successful in ripping the sprites. I'd like some from Odin Sphere as well since they're so pretty.

Ive asked a few people for the programs they use to unpack the ps2 files, but they wont respond :/ So looks like ill have to go the emulator route.

I got these from the artbook.

Yeah.. looks like it's coming down to recording the emulator and making an animation. Guess ill see how that goes over the weekend.

Im not sure if all you need is a PS2 SDK to open up the files or what, but google has failed me too on any sort of way to extract ps2 files. The SDK looks like the last option on that route, and ive no idea how SDKs work.
