Why not just nuke Earth? Since we're all going to kill each other, lets just slap 10 nukes on a space shuttle and haul that shit down a giant hole leading to the Earths core. Get it over with.

That would do absolutely nothing. Inner core alone is 70% the size of the moon, and is made of iron and nickel. Combined with an outer core, and mantle, both of which are liquid rock/metal. By the time you even get close to a significant dent in that, you could have torn the crust of the Earth to absolute shreds.

the Human Rights Watch site that Quicklet posted has reports of civilian casualties on both sides. Not a surprise.

The whole fucking point is that this is a battle of hegemony and politics on both sides. No one is claiming Russia to be angels here (everyone pretty much has to realize the reputation the Russian military has- brutal) but acting like this is one sided aggression is retarded. Talk about Red propaganda? Let's talk about how obvious western media bias can be as well. Talk about Russia trying to bully a region? Let's talk about throwing tons of military weaponry at Russia's neighbors, and putting a system that would take the M out of MAD in Russia's backyard. Talk about Putin wanting to go back to the Soviet era of politics and dominate the region? Let's talk about Sakaashvili banking on Western support first and now flat out demanding it, and John McCain obviously attempting to politically capitalize off the events (avoiding conspiracy theories for now, he's obviously trying to play it up after the fact).

The tragedy here is the South Ossetian and Georgian people, who first got whipped up in animosity towards eachother and now are getting bullets and bombs. Russia plays up South Ossetian pro-russo sentiment and there's a large resistance movement, Georgia plays up anti-russo sentiment and there's support/clearance to handle the resistance with force. What we ought to be hoping for is humanitarian thought prevails and hegemony takes a back seat, on both sides, otherwise more people get dragged into this bullshit.

News that has only come out AFTER basically their entire military order and structure broke down, and Russian tanks and personnel were riding with impunity towards their capital.

Georgia was built up to believe that America and NATO had given them a blank check. Some of that is American diplomats fault some of that is Georgia's own belief that because they would be allowed in NATO at some point in time means they could manipulate NATO to fight their battle. Which is ridiculous because NATO has operated with the goal of NOT going to war with Russia.

Also, you guys, we attacked a region and a belief system. So theres the difference!
