anyone gotten the last(?) reward from the Crucible yet? I have the axe but its still telling me there's more rewards. Last run through was 662 seconds? I can't clear the pirate/bridge one all that fast, but otherwise I'm going as fast as I humanly can. Time Slow + lvl 4/5 shock just to clear it fast

So, am I actually just increadibly shitty at the Blacksmithing minigame or does anyone else have difficulty maintaining greater than a 6 or 7 chain on Rank 4 blacksmithing?

I went and did the woodchopping and got up to like a 70 chain on Rank 3 without breaking a sweat.

It can be hard to get into a rhythm blacksmithing at times. I usually have a lot of small chains then a 10+ then back to small ones again. It seems like the speed of the ball in the gauge starts to pick up quick a bit so it can screw around with the timing.

What I tend to do after about 5-6 is to make sure that I don't stop the ball until it starts coming back to the start at least once (unless the green mark is on the opposite side of the arch). That has seemed to net me higher chains.

Yeah, I really have to force myself on a chain 3 or higher to let the ball bounce back if the ball and sweet spot start on the same side of the slider. It's hard though, your brain is so trained by games to hit it as soon as possible.

I got so addicted to the Blacksmithing part that I made enough money to buy a few shops and start turning profits...

I probably have about 10-20 hours logged, the game is certainly amazing and I'm really enjoying it. When I started playing I definitely got that overwhelming "what to do now..." sense like I did when I stepped out of the first dungeon in oblivion, although I think the loss of a central hub area like the heroes guild kinda hurts the game. You don't know how much content there is, and it never seems like there's all that much to do (although there is a lot), but I think a lot of that can be chalked up to my fears over the game's length based on the first one.

It's really a blast to play, although I'll agree with reviewers who say it's painfully easy and combat doesn't happen as often as you'd like it to. If you've made a decent chunk of gold playing pub games and invest wisely in real estate you'll pretty much never run out of money, which is a pro or a con depending on how you want to play.

I'm pretty glad they got rid of some irritating things from the first game like aging every time you level up and the fact that your character scars so easily if you don't have physical shield up at all times, but I think following the game's hype and promises so closely has been a detriment, at least for me. I keep expecting half of the shit molyneux promised and never find it, or things he say will be difficult (like being pure/good) being dreadfully easy. The dog is great, but not having a minimap (or at least a pause map you can zoom in on) fucking blows.

These are all minor complaints and the game really is a heck of a lot of fun. I'm moving in a few days and I can't wait to finally get my 360 onto a 42" screen to really feel immersed in the game. I don't want to rush but I can't help but feel rushed with fallout 3 only a few days away, but I guess I can just take my time with both.

Btw don't buy the fable 2 strategy guide, it's wildly incorrect and not at all helpful, aside from showing you where various things are on the map, although their contents are listed incorrectly.

Does anyone know if you can recompete in the Crucible? I can't seem to re-enter the arena (door is purple).

btw anyone else accidentally cast magic in town and scare people when trying to exit out of something?

yea, I forget what the B button was used for in fable 1 but I pressed it constantly and after about an hour of having magic I fired off a whole bunch of lightning strikes ;/

So today I decided to work on my evil character some and my choices as a child in old bowerstone were quite astonishing, the game is completly diffrent as an evil character and ill leave it at that.

So is anyone else who just uses their TV speakers kind of unimpressed with the sounds in Fable II? The music is very quiet and you never seem to hear your Hero's footsteps when running. The fighting sfx are just fine, but the ambient sounds in the game just seem very uneven and oddly quiet.

I've actually found that putting the sound mode in game to 5.1 works the best, the problems I mentioned above are even worse when I chose "TV" output :\

You can hear their footsteps in caves and in grass and I hear the music perfectly fine and its fairly loud.

Is the save system glitched? It's quite useless to have a manual save option when the game auto-saves over you.

I saved just before a pivotal point in the game so I could replay it and choose a different path but that didn't work out too well. This has happened all throughout the game. Makes no sense...

I don't get why you're not allowed to choose save slots either, most (if not 99.9%) RPGs give you that option. Mass Effect certainly does and it's similar in terms of game-changing points in the narrative that's up to the user.

I think it's intentional so that we would worry more about our consequences. Stupid IMO, but designer's would rather have us play the way they intended, instead of how we actually wanna play. :D

Yeah, I dislike the auto save system but it forces you to replay the game to see the different endings or if you flip and decide to kill everyone in town for shits and giggles it's permanent.

Hmm im guessing ive encountered a glitch with the assassin quest, have to kill willam the monk and he's no where in oakville, and you'd figure they'd have a way of quiting and restarting the quest but they dont so guess ill go on and ignore it. Thing about it is on my good character there is no willam the monk either.
