[Correction]

The claims have been met with widespread scepticism but the pair have won the backing of America's best know Bigfoot hunter, Tom Biscardi, who has been searching for the creature since 1971 and says that he is sure the find is authentic.

Biscardi is a well-known charalatan who uses almost any opportunity to enrich himself from the Bigfood publicity machine. I think a few years back he tried to have a pay-per-view TV event where he'd provide 100% definitive proof that he'd caught a Bigfoot himself.

His involvement in this latest crock of shit should raise a few alarms.

Edit: Hard to find links to the pay-per-view debacle. Biscardi doesn't really make the respected news outlets, and most of the time travels in the 'cryptozoology' circles where the coverage is pretty far from what I'd consider solid writing and fact-checking. Well, the article says they'll provide the body, and DNA samples tomorrow. If they actually allow real scientists to examine the body and test the DNA, then we'll see.

However, I'm not sure what information can be extracted from the DNA. Would they be able to determine what it is, or merely what it isn't by trial and error matching against other things?
