There's also a lot of animals that people think are extinct and then they pop up (did we forget bout the celicant?). Not saying "Holy shit, these guys found big foot!", just saying that a "High school biology education" isn't enough to discredit the idea of there being a big foot type creature. Its improbable that big foot exists, not impossible.

I'll agree that its not IMPOSSIBLE, but it's about as close as you could possibly be to it. Any creature of the size that bigfoot is reputed to be would be easily noticeable, first off. By now it would be a slim chance one would not wander into human contact and be shot/hit by a car, or even that the corpse of one would turn up (it would have happened long before 2008).

Based on the description of it, it would resemble a species of bipedal primate close to that of early man (though a lot friggin bigger). Humans had already evolved into what they are now before arriving in the Americas, thus for this to be real would suggest that it migrated with them while not leaving any fossil record behind. Find me a source where they find early human fossils and almost 8 foot tall human relatives together in the same area, in America.

Next, for them to not go extinct they would obviously need to have a steadily thriving population in order to stay around for tens of thousands of years. A population that would suffice is hard to say, but it would certainly have to be relatively large. Even if it were numbering in the hundreds at this point there would be concrete evidence. Bigfoot "sightings" also are found all across the U.S. and America, an enormous territory. The chances of an 8 foot tall man-ape living in a territory that big without a corpse, fossil evidence, or concrete human interaction turning up is beyond unlikely.

Lastly, a celicant is a deep sea fish, and you cannot compare the ocean, especially the deep sea, to land in terms of undiscovered species. The only ecosystem on land that is even CLOSE to the ocean in terms of undiscovered species is the rainforest and even that pales in comparison.
