Resolution settings

Just a quick question, i just bought a new 22'' Widescreen LCD, and changed all the res settings so it looks good in FFXI again. but the names above peoples heads are kinda annoyingly large... any way to make the font smaller? or is it linked to the backround res ( which i have at 1680x1050 ) ( i think lol)

I can't recall specifically if the player name was associated with the GUi or the background render. But I'm wondering, did you set the game to use 16:10 for the aspect ratio rather than it's defaul 4:3 after having moved to the new monitor?
(should be under the ingame menu's Misc.2)

Yeah i did, I changed to 16:10, changed res to 1680x1050, and went into registry and changed my background resolution to 1680x1050 as well. Everything looks crystal clear, text for chat, and windower apps on screen (draw distance etc) has much smaller text than before... but the GERKIN above my head is far too large for my liking... just wondering if that was adjustable.

Yeah, I didnt like it either, but youre stuck with it; you get used to it.

Pretty sure background resolutions need to be same number. 800x800, 1600x1600, I run mine at 2800x2800 on my 22" wide, and it looks normal.

If your camera is zoomed all the way out, the names are larger. If you zoom in, they get smaller.

I was actually curious about this and I found out this is only illusion and the names really stay the same size regardless HOLY CRAP FF BREAKTHROUGH

Ive been trying to play FF in zoomed in all the way more often. I just realized that everything looks better, more realistic, detailed, and more like youre in the action.

However you cant see your surroundings at all, it feels like it takes 100x longer to walk somewhere, and depth perception is bad.
