The Campaign Continues! (08/15/2008)

Low level issue EXP issues encompass like levels 15-55. Keep in mind people have been brainwashed for so long that the only possible good EXP would come from a party of 6 with the usual tank/healer/DDs set up on IT mobs. Narrow LFG focus to basical +-1 your own level, and the pool becomes considerably smaller. Nevermind the fact you may never find a healer, a tank, or even be short DDs. The time you tend to be able to play is also a factor. It happens, and it happened long before Campaign ever hit the servers.

Smart or fortunate players can wiggle around this a little depending on their job/sub, but not everyone can dual-box or has access to a self-PL. BST pet camps are limited and are only getting more contested as people learn about them. EXP scroll quests suck, especially in relation to time put in and the amount you get.

If people are /brd'ing in a city held zone, they're not frickin' doing it right. /ignorepet on, manipulate your camera a little. It's not hard to guarantee focus unless your server has the habitual asshats training mobs because most CAs are miles from battle. If the average 2-5 people are lagging you, I'd hate to see what actual battle does with 20+ NPCs and 20+ PCs. If you're still getting Nvidia lag-bombed by songs and Firaga, I'm sure other events suck, too. Maybe consider upgrading your video card or even learning how to swap out the graphics for something less crippling.

Either way, I don't like botters, especially the malicious ones that wind up monopolizing limited sources like mining points or NMs (which these guys aren't), but just because something can be botted doesn't mean that specific something is detrimental to the game. Some of us may already have 5+ 75s, skills capped for the job until at least 65, and gear ready and waiting. It's not difficult to know what to do in any given situation if you just pay attention or even do some research.

Personally, I'm worried about SE's alleged low-level EXP alternatives not even coming close to what a couple hours of Campaign could accomplish, and that's just a step backwards for everyone. Moral victory? Maybe. Then again, I'd say there are more important game issues than slowing someone's progress to the Xth 75 because the stars and moons haven't aligned.

Just read the OP today. You know what I'd like is for the past to not necessarily be tied to the present. In other words, when you travel to the past, your stats could be augmented depending on rank and status, and maybe key items, or a combination of all sorts of things. These could be anything from increased HP/MP, STR, skill in weapons, etc. Almost like bonus merits that are only active in the past. Who wouldn't want to become a massive killing machine, even if only in the past? That would be a serious incentive for people to just about live in the past. Give us some tangible goals that don't need to be necessarily be gear rewards... god knows people have to mule for 10 hours just to grab gear for a different job (although I wouldn't complain about a few nice items here and there.)

Anyway, the changes they have coming sound interesting. I'm not sure if it will be enough to keep me going to the past. I rarely find myself there anymore, which is why I think some sort of advancement that is only active while in the past would be really freakin' nice.

I'm torn on the enhancing issue.

On one hand, less /brd bots would be wonderful because they don't help.

On the other hand, having a SMN or SCH rush in buff an entire NPC unit and every tagged player in range with stoneskin, frozen armor, phalanx, protect, shell, or bar-elemental spells is damned nice because it helps out a lot.

-to those of you who complaints about brdbots and say they want to solo on dnc or /dnc... who the fuck are you cheating? even if you are not boting, you could, and you are as useless as brdbots to the campaign in general... even worse, you sometimes make campaign longer, and bots dont do that ! hell, begin to think a bit in team if you want others to do so...
-about the limit time between 2 tags : 10 min wont do anything against bots. They are already doing routine of 4 or 5 min. All /brd that are mages, or brds, can use selfbuffs too to prolonge this to 7 or 8 min of usefullness. the loss for bots would be minime. If it is 15 min, then it would be, prolly, the best way to implement it. Just fine for others people and cutting by 2 or 3 the exp of bots. If it is anything else than that, shame on SE. I can't imagine another way that could hurt the bots while not hurting the others players. And really, really... Is the priority about bashing cheater or about not bashing legit? It is the same pb as in real life : the presumption of innocence is not here for nothing. If you favorize punishing wrong people over not punishing right people, you are just a tyran. At least that's my point of view.(i put this point here because as stated by others, brdbots dont hurt others in any way. the economy is unaffected, etc. So is it really a solution to hurt a bit bots if you hurt the same some others players?)

Does that work while in a PT?(in the case of SS/Phalanx) I always thought it wouldn't work in campaign because you obviously can't cast those two on other players. It's the only way accession works for pro/shell/cure spells on NPCs.

Idea -

Consider that points are earned for:

1: Doing Damage
2: Taking Damage
3: Healing
4: Buffing
5: Enfeebling

Code things such that your EXP/AN are capped per category to be within 125% of your next lowest category, with a minimum of, say, 100 points per tag after 5-10 minutes. If that's too harsh on the melees (I'd let JAs count as enfeebling or buffing or healing as appropriate), Don't make doing/taking damage subject to the cap, but let it define the cap for other categories.

You wanna buff spam for points? Make yourself useful between waves and top off everyone's HP. Wanna be snarky and Dia I spam mobs at 2%? Haste/Protect/etc. some folks fighting that mob beforehand, and btw, they all already have Protect IV on them since I'm participating as intended on my WHM/SCH,RDM,NIN.whatever.

Wanna get by on 600 exp per hour with only some AN to show for it? Be my guest, but you could do that soloing Lesser Colibri outside Whitegate and get IS and minor gil drops/seals for better return, among MANY other options.

You realize the reason I sub DNC is so I can heal myself since others won't. I have more survivability this way (in addition to not needing to spam bolts and/or ninjitsu). And really on an offensive CB a person being able to hold a mob so the NPCs don't have more mobs on them is actually a good thing. BRD bots have no benefit to CB at all, except causing lag. If your going to be lagging me, be doing something beneficial.
