I agree, in general, most places only charge when they ship, but they did explicitly state that they were going to charge you immediately when you processed the order. They did state that you were pre-ordering, not reserving a spot or anything.

Also most of the places that only charge you when they ship are internet warehouse places, like Amazon etc. The practice is wide-spread but only because most internet stores operate like that or are just drop-shippers.

Fuck all you whiny QQ babies. You don't want the item, then don't fucking buy it. Personally I wouldn't mind collecting tons of stuff like this that has RL and in-game counterparts. It would bring a tangible element to the game that doesn't really exists since everything on your character is virtual. As long as this thing doesn't have a retarded cool-down or finite amount of charges, I'll be getting it. And it's about GODDAMNED time they added some piece of gear to the game that had some flashy animation to it. Even after all these years I can't fathom why relic weapons aren't engulfed in flames of varying colors, or glow, or SOMETHING that makes them stand out in a crowd.

The great thing about capitalism is if you don't see the value in something, you don't have to buy it; for those that do find what's being offered worthwhile it's still there. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on whether or not the "Player's Collection" is worth the money, but just because you don't want do/can't spend your money on it, don't get angry with those that can.

While little items like the harpsichord & tele-talisman aren't a big deal, its starting a bad precedent. If people are willing to pay this much for so little from an in-game item, imagine what they could get for better items. The fact that they already have another in game item for sale so quickly after the first one (which took 4 years or so to come out) should tell you that we should only expect more. What if new items are '-1' versions of hard to obtain in game items, or worse yet, the equivalent?

Here's the flaw with this, though. Mind you, I don't think they will do this beyond vanity items, but just consider this: What if they made you pay for AFv3? What if they make you pay for new weaponskills? I see this as the beginning of a terrible trend. Can we not agree that this would be terrible? Now how about an entire line of equipment with somewhat useful functions that costs you $50 every 2 months to purchase? At what point do you just feel cheated out of content that should be part of your subscription?

My main problem with this is that I don't like the idea of paying for expansions and a monthly subscription only to find out that there's a whole line of items I don't get access to with my subscription/expansion purchase unless I plunk down even more cash. They've got every right to do it, you've got every right to buy it, but I think it's a horrible way to pull money out of consumers. I already feel we're starving for content, especially since the updates are appearing further and further apart lately. Selling additional content separately just feels like it's cheating the players.

People like to collect stupid crap in this game. It's the reason why there is a game event every few months or so. I don't see this progressing worse than SE realeasing something ingame or IRL that is actually really worth collecting, and people who like bitching being forced to buy it because it's just that good.

If they had made something like the Pullus Torque buyable, along with a little chocobo plushie, they would have made a killing. However, I'm sure people would have bitched it had nothing to do with Chocobos ingame though, or Chocobo racing...

someone drinking too much cool-aid over here? those moderate annoyances are artificially inserted into the game by SE. if it's a problem they want to fix, they can fix it for all the players easily by making those trips shorter/instant.
