Think of it as this : Bacteria is bad, you're constantly trying to rid your body of bacteria, you're told this as a child, don't touch any germs because it has bacteria in it!

And all of a sudden, you are informed there is "Good bacteria". Not saying Square Enix is good nor bacteria (hmmm on the other hand..) but it's not the same kind of RMT that is buying gil to people who destroy FFXI (Gilsellers).

I doubt any other site will sell this, it seems to be a Square store exclusive.

I suggest you try to find a person in the US to buy it by-proxy for you or get an internet-based credit card that would meet SE standards.

Even if the in-game body piece bucks the trend of special enchantment items and has a really low recast (like an hour or something), It's not worth 50 bucks to me. MAYBE 25, 30 in a pinch, but there's no way that necklace is worth 50.

Yea, it's interesting enough that I don't feel gipped as far as FFXI information goes and it'll provide a decent amount of conversation until the real shit comes in.

If we look at this necklace in time saved, it would probably take years for the trinket to pay for itself in monthly fees.

The limit per household is 3, so I could see this easily becoming a way for people to make some $$$ reselling extra pendants on eBay or elsewhere to people who live outside SE's available area (wtf @ US only, I know alot of Canadian players... they're SOL looks like...).

Well, everyone have probably seen the Player's collection that SE plans to add soon.

Obviously the goal isn't to buy a real item and to get a small bonus in-game, but to sell in-game items disguised as real life items.
Look at this: something the community have been asking for a really long while: a short way to teleport from a city to Jeuno is now on sale for 45$ !!!

If you look at the advert on Playonline, it's obvious.
It only talks about the in-game item and don't even seem to give a fuck about the product it is officially supposed to be sold.
What SE wants to sell us is an in-game item, nonetheless. Moreover, it's an answer to something we've been asking for quite a long time.

So what is happening to SE and FFXI ?
Is the game about to become of these free MMOs with an item shop ? Except this time, it wouldn't be free but would still include an item shop.
Are they asking us to pay twice to play the game : monthly subscription plus shop ?

Is it the way SE answers to players requests ? What's next ?
Merit extensions for 75$ ( oops err selling a ring really, it's purely decorative and there is a small in-game bonus included).
Oh, I got something better: what about buying an item that teleports to DA and claims Fafnir 100% for $200 ?
What kind of game would that be ?
Do we really want to play in a game like this ?


And really, their presentation and commercial is as dishonest as possible.
What about telling the players the players the truth, that they now intend to sell in-game upgrades for real money instead of disguising it as selling some random real life trinket ?
