Well I have no clue, but i don't think PS3 is built for on its side, which i know Xbox360 was built for it. But thats just my opinion

The PS3 has little rubber non-slip pads on it's side, so I don't think it makes a huge difference. Also, the PS3 has a slot-loading drive versus the 360's tray, so I figure it's safer to have the tray operate under normal orientation. Oh well.

The PS3 has it's intake on the right side and it's exhaust on the back. Unless you're a fucking idiot and put the thing on it's side, with the vents on the bottom, it's fine to run it on it's side.

the only downfall with running it on it's side is, hot air rises meaning the intake should be on the back, and the exhaust on the top

the fan directions should be reversed (pull the cooler air in from the back, and push it through the top when the ps3 is on it's side)

Well, not only would that be over engineering something so simple, but it wouldn't even work. Fans are designed to run in one direction, you can't just reverse the motor, you'd have to change the pitch of the fan blades.

The effect of "warm air rises" is minimal at best it wouldn't change the temps of the Ps3 by more than 1-3C.

Psh, all you people and your multiple monitors, I wish I had room for a second monitor...I only have a 20'' Widescreen Flatpanel and it gets crowded.

20'' monitor + boring dell inspiron case, but with shiny add-ons, i'll have to get a pic of it later on. >_< camera needs batteries...
