NFL Pick Em and Eliminator Games

In addition to the College Pick Em game, ESPN has two more games that are worth playing, IMO. The NFL Pick Em game and the Eliminator Challenge. Both of these are free to play; I have named the league names and the passwords the same for each game.

Pigskin Pick Em is pretty straight forward. Pick the winners of each NFL game every week, and the person who gets the most right at the end of the season wins. One cool option they added this year (which I chose) is that you can drop the lowest weekly score you got for the year. This way, if you forget to pick for a week, you can still win the league.

The second game (the Eliminator Challenge) seems easier, but is actually much more strategic. Some places call these Suicide pools. In this game, you only pick one game every week. If you get your game right, you get a point. The twist is, you can only pick each team once. So, over 17 weeks, you're going to have to find 17 different winners. Person with the most points at the end of the year wins.

Joined the Eliminator, sounds really fun. Trying to join the Pigskin challenge but I can't figure out how to change the age on my profile since it says you have to be 21 or older (I'm only 20 and used my real birthday...)

Edit- Joined both, couldn't change age so just created a new account with a different email.

That's really odd. Maybe I can change one of the league settings.

It's an ESPN setting actually, odd how they have a different requirement for Eliminator. It took me about 20 minutes of clicking around infuriated that I couldn't find out how to create my entry before I gave up and signed up for Eliminator and realized that the little message of being over 21 was in place of the create entry option.

Neither have I, it seems like a lot of fun. It forces you to not pick the obvious blow out every week seeing as how you can only pick one team per season so to speak. I'm sure a lot of people are picking the Pats vs Chiefs game in week 1, using up that Pats card in week one could be interesting.

Yeah I don't want to use up the "elite" teams just yet. Week 1 is rather interesting, a lot of close games on paper (save for one or two like the Pats game). Might as well make the painful picks early so I can try to coast through the rest of the season.

Either that or it's one less BG league I have to worry about! lol

I've done this via ESPN the last couple of years; it's been fun. I first saw this done in a bar. Everybody paid $10 or whatever to get into a pool, then you would come in once a week and, in order to make a pick, you would buy a beer, and $1 from that beer would go into the pool. The first time you lost a game, you were out, and the last man standing won the pool. In this situation, where we don't have a pool, I think it's more fun to keep everyone around until the end of the year and just tally points so you're not out in Week 1.

I try to stick to home teams and large favorites, but as the season goes on, it becomes tougher and tougher. Of course, as the season goes on, teams you might not have picked against in the first few weeks become easy pickings by the end of the year. And teams you didn't touch the first few weeks might end up pretty good in Week 13. The Pats vs. Chiefs is the most obvious pick in week one (and you can see how everyone else has picked the games), but you'll never be that devoid of information on the teams again.

This is probably why. Even thought none of the prizes are alcohol-related, the Promoter is Miller Lite, so you have to be 21 to enter.

Eh, that one doesn't quite interest me as much, and I already waste enough time at work. If someone else wants to start the league, it's easy enough to do so.
