In the NFL ones.
In the NFL ones.
Byrd is there a way to delete my entry? Since I had to make a second account to join the pigskin pick'em, I wanted to have them both on the same ESPN account since that is the one with all my fantasy leagues as well and I don't want to have to log in and out all the time. I joined under my other email but not sure how to delete the first entry with my old account. I renamed the old one to Sam 2 to make it easier to tell which was which.
Byrd, I don't see the eliminator challenge showing up?
It's there, everyone else signed up. It's just as Byrd said, Bluegartr pw Yin. Or do you mean that game altogether? If Byrd's link or http://games.espn.go.com/eliminator/frontpage dont't work just go to ESPN.com, mouse over the fantasy tab and a bunch of games will show up, Eliminator is under that tab.
There was a small typo in the link, but it still got you to the right area. Regardless, it's fixed now, you should be able to get in through either my or Fistandantilus' link.
Nice bump as a reminder for those to register and pick before tomorrow night's game. Are all still welcome, there is no cap on the number of players.
I just joined.
I joined the 2 NFL ones
Lets see if I can get back to picking winners
As an experiment, I started two "chalk" entries called Better Record Wins and Home Team Wins. One of the columnists on ESPN.com (TMQ, specifically) noted that last year if you picked Better Record Wins, Home Team Wins if Records are tied for every game, you would have correctly picked more games than every single expert on any one of the major websites that he was tracking. I decided to try that to compare. I also started a chalk entry called Home Team, where I will just pick the home teams every week.
Neither one of them are my "official" entry as far as the contest is concerned, that's still Byrd's Beavers.
Hrm... Interesting. I'm trying the "Better Record Wins" kind of thing too, but not in the same league obviously, or we'd have the same score by the end of things. When you say "Better Record" though, to clear things up, you mean the team with the better record from last year?
9ers are getting no love
they are my surprise team this year...8-8 or 9-7
Nope. Teams with the better record this year, or the home teams in the case of tie. The first week, it will be all home teams, so my two chalk picks will be identical. If TMQ's proposed pattern from last year holds true, during the beginning of the season, it will fall back a little bit, but by the end of the year will catch up and surpass. We'll see if it works.
I found the specific article: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...erbrook/080212
It's about 2/3 of the way down under the Isaacson-Tarbell Resplendent heading. It ended up with 69% correct prediction rate last year. One expert from Fox Sports had the exact same end record.
The actual formula he proposes is:
This is to combat all of the teams resting their starters for Week 17. This is the one I'm going to use for this experiment.Originally Posted by TMQ
Well see, comparing our records to "experts" is sort of silly. Sure, they are experts, but it goes to show that anyone can make good predictions and what not when it comes to the winner of the game.
Either way, that's pretty cool. I'll give it a shot on my other picking team I've got.
I did the "pick the favs" in the NCAA bracket and that entry got 2nd or third out of about 35 people.
I entered into both of the NFL ones.
And yea it would be nice to see the Niners at least go 8-8 this year. Way too many depressing Sundays last season.
I couldn't help but notice how popular my Panthers were until I went and tried to add them to my Fantasy team lol.
