You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    PMS question! Girls orny

not that there are many, but just curious if any girls out there have taken any sort of pill for their pms. So tired of the roller coaster I go on every month, and feel bad for the bf too :/

It seems to get worse and worse every year now too. I'm always crying over something stupid or angry at nothing. I know that there are some meds that are supposed to "help" balance your hormones a bit, but I dunno anyone irl who have taken any to know if they actually work.

I also wouldn't wanna take anything that would prevent me from having kids in the future.

Wish chocolate still worked that was the easy solution. :/

My mom and Wife are always easier to get along with during PMS. The 9 months when she was pregnant was the calmest coolest 9 months in our 8 years together. OMG GUY RESPONSE

Try Yaz, it apparently turns PMS into a happy summer day full of balloons and trampolines and parties.

Never had real issues w/PMS outside of the first day I'm kinda bitchy. But I do remember birth control made my periods much lighter

Are you taking birth control pills at all?

I have been taking them for a couple years now, and not only does it help with the moods but it can create a shorter period or no period at all. I take my pills constantly, so I don't ever have a period unless I choose to "take a break" or something along those lines.

It would definitely be something to talk to your doctor/gyno about.

(Guy response, but I'm trying to be helpful)

Try switching birth control. Talk to your doctor or a specialist at at sexual health clinic about methods of contraception that may help decrease your mood swings.

My girlfriend has tried a few different types over the past few years and has settled on the Nuvo Ring which she likes quite a bit. She has mentioned that since starting to use it a few months ago her mood swings and debilitating cramps have reduced, but not completely gone away. It's also nice because you insert it and then forget about it until just before your period would normally start, when you take it out. Good solution if you're forgetful and might miss a dose of your daily pill. (which my girlfrind is, and has, and I apparently knocked her up, which she very thankfully got rid of extremely quickly) The Nuvo Ring doesn't seem to cause breast growth like other varients of the pill, but that may be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your situation. She experienced a bit of discomfort when she first started using the ring, but now it doesn't bother her at all and neither of us notice it during sex.

She also mentioned to me that there is a form of oral birth control that will basically prevent you from having a period for about three or four months. And by prevent I mean exactly that, nothing happens except the contraceptive really tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant. I don't think vomiting is a side effect, but apparently minor lactation can happen. I have no clue what your following period is like after the contraceptive wears off, but this may be something you might want to look into further. My girl didn't take it because she was a bit too weirded out at the prospect of completely shutting off one of her natural features for a few months at a time.

From a guy's perspective I think we should realize that for a couple days every 28ish days some "wierd" (from our perspective) stuff may happen. If he can't come to that realization and accept that then he better get his ass in gear and understand that things will change for a few days, and to just roll with the punches - be they literal or figurative.

sounds more like a prozac for birth-control.

Oh yeah... while it's diff for everyone... the Nuvo Ring and [birth control] patch made me so damn aggrivated/pissy/bitchy, ect... for the first 1-2 months I used them. It messed w/my hormones not only during my period, but definantly made it worse. I've been told that your body stabalizes after a few months, I just couldn't last that long

I know most birth control makes your periods lighter and a -lot- more predictable, but none at all? I think this is the point where it might start messing up your body. Not to mention frightening you if you're having unprotected sex.

Just don't do the "placebo" pills and skip your "4th week" bullshit.

Having a false period that birth control pills provide isn't a biological necessity - that buildup and flushing of uterine wall lining is completely unnecessary when you aren't dropping an egg into it in the first place.

Women just like their periods to provide a sense of normalcy and to know they definitely aren't pregnant. They are unnecessary.

There is nothing wrong with it. My doctor actually suggested it because I had REALLY heavy periods. I went from only having a 4 day period to not having one at all. Once every 4 months or so you just don't take your pills for a week, have a normal period, and move on. You really don't even need to do that, but I feel better about it when I do.

Ditto on the birth control. Change it or drop it. The BCs I used made me bad: I never had mood swings before them at all, now I get them slightly and I've been off of the pill for years now. Best thing to do, though, is put your reactions into perspective and learn to control them. I am working on that as well, but I'd rather be able to control my emotions than to rely on medicines that can make you worse.

P.S. Nothing wrong with a good cry every now and then

I just know my ex-girlfriend's cousin was taking some birth control that reduced her periods to every few months (2~4) and now, off the medication, she is unable to have a period at all. Pretty much perma-fucked her chances of having her own child all for less bloody vaginas.

A friend of mine had early-onset menopause at 22.

It had nothing to do with birth control pills.

Millions of American women skip their periods by manipulating their birth control on occassion. Your ex-girlfriend's cousin's sister's niece story is great for scare value, but I doubt there's much substance there.

Get an IUD (the plastic, hormone-dispensing kind, good for 10 years, as opposed to copper, which is good for 5 years). 99% effective birth control, obviously will not protect against any STDs, but if you're in a monogamous relationship and have both been tested, then game on. It's a simple procedure to put one in, and you might not miss your period or the "normalcy" that much.
