ohi. Almost finished with DRK, just need a few miscellaneous items (Justice Torque isn't really a huge deal because I merited Great Sword over Scythe anyway) and HQs. Also, I should have a Snow Gorget equipped in the Guillotine set but my macro was old and I didn't change it. <_>

I don't switch out my Ulthalam's Ring for WS because I like the 4 Att/Acc anyway, and a lot of the time I'm in Salvage/Nyzul on my DDs so it gets the STR4/DEX4 too.

I can't post my PLD yet, not until I finish it (just need Ares's Flanchard and Valor Cape).

Wouldn't a hauby+1(or ebody) + foragers be better than Ares + af2 cape?

It would basically come down to 33 attack and 16 accuracy vs. 33 attack and 7 acc (I hope I'm doing these Dex > ACC and STR > Attack conversions correctly x.x)

Amylea - I don't have an E.Body. If I had one, I'd use it, but Askar is still better anyway. As for Haub+1, why would I buy one when I parse at 95% accuracy on everything that I normally do anyway? (Nyzul, Salvage, Dynamis, bird camp - I never take my DRK to Mamool, if I go to Mamool I bring WAR because it parses higher anyway )

Currently trying my best to upgrade all my staves to HQ seeing only HQ i have is Pluto's, and buying int/mnd rings.
I have some gear that I set as a goal but there will be some time before I obtain them, such as random Morrigan's pieces, AF2 and maybe a few Goliard pieces as well.

<---not a rdm, but i'd get a MND setup as well as some haste for refresh/ect. INT/MND rings are HUGE, same with HQ staves. get avocot pigaches/yigit crackows/nash crackows too. try to some MND earrings for your slow2/para/2 setup.

My linkshell does Nyzul sort of weird. My main concern is actually for Askar hands for my WAR, but I do want the body next. As for when I'll get it, there's really no telling. We do runs twice a week but I can only attend once due to assaults for Salvage, so basically I'm doing 3-4 runs every Saturday night and I'm behind maybe 3-4 other people for gear (since Nyzul is done as a linkshell rather than a smaller static), but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm behind 3-4 people for any specific piece - just overall. I could get Askar body pretty much any time if the cards come out right and people don't show up, etc., but assuming perfect attendance we'd need a couple more drops before I can lot, and like I said, hands are my priority anyway, so we'll see.

Accuracy is 95% anywhere but Mamool, it's like 87-92% at Mamool, yeah (varying depending on the amount of Obfuscate and how many THF mobs we get versus mages or BSTs or DRGs or others ). Abyss Cape, Toreador's Ring, Ace's Helm, Fire Bomblet and full merits in Great Sword do wonders for accuracy.

I never really thought Assault Earring was worth trading Ethereal for. I like the extra HP and the MP conversion for when I take damage, too.

Naglering vs. Algol - yes, the difference is definitely noticeable, especially on high defense monsters (not merits). In merits, the TP comes in faster and I feel that +17 attack, +4 accuracy outweighs the triple attack which on average procs once in every 10 fights or so.

Guillotine vs. Spinning Slash - If you have merits in scythe and similar gear as to what I have you'll get slightly over 1,000 as your average Guillotine, with full returns doing about 1100-1200 and double attacks doing 1300-1400, and of course way more if buffed. These are about the numbers that I see when I parse against similarly geared DRKs who use scythe.

As for me, I don't have scythe merits (which is why I choose to put more effort into my great sword build). Because I lack that 16 skill (it makes a HUGE difference) my average Guillotine falls to about 850 or 900. Typically my Spinning Slashes with Naglering average 950 -> 1100 depending on various things (how often the mobs get Dia, whether my BRDs have Minuet merits, etc.). So, for me, because I have Great Sword merits over Scythe, my Great Sword greatly outperforms my Scythe (but against another DRK, their Scythe often outparses my Great Sword).

Here's an example: Today, at Mamool, my Great Sword versus a very well-geared Scythe DRK: I parsed at about 32.0% while the Scythe DRK parsed at about 35.5%. This is the typical difference between Great Sword and Scythe when both are played really well. For reference, a DRG with almost the best gear possible (minus Gungnir or Valkyrie's Fork) in the same party parsed at 29.7%, which was below me when considered alone, but slightly above when you add in the wyvern damage (about 2.8%).

well said. i really respect that, especially on your example on going against another scythe drk. I have all that stuff you have but the abyss cape, and while i do parse 95% on easy camps like front mamool, birds or whatnot, i really think that cape would "up" my performance on DRK. especially in camps like Jade. Thats why i was skeptical at 1st since i use an Adaman Hauberk, and you use ares, and believe me... Im not gonna lie to you, i struggle with my acc alot trying to keep it capped but im about to put 4 merits into scythe, and maybe itll edge it out a little more, like your GS merits did!
