On one hand, I liked the whole AV unkillable thing since it seemed like a fun, impossible challenge (I think I'm the only one who thinks this).
On the other hand, we have 31 JoL sets ready to go lol.

An unbeatable mob isn't a bad thing if no one has the expectation to beat it (Dark Rider) or if you get something just for fighting (some mission fights, campaign fortifications.) Obviously, AV doesn't fulfill either condition.
Monday Morning:
SE announces a new low man instance w/ Salvage-like potential to divert Friday's shitstorm reaction from the playerbase in an attempt to re-establish a damaged customer relationship. (assuming one was established?orz)
SE, you've disappointed us enough now, this is the least you can do...
plz?

Replace 'alone in the dark' with your favorite unkillable NM where the wrong choice leads to 24 hours of physical pain.
After dealing with a couple of years of DMs twisting wish spells into the worst possible outcomes, I've got to say that I love the vague wording here (important stuff bolded) because it doesn't make a genius to figure that this can be read in a very negative light. All I could think was, "Wasn't the last measure SE took to shorten HNM battles SSJ?"It was for this reason that previous measures were put into practice which prohibited NMs from being held in battle for prolonged periods. In response to these events, we have determined that further alterations are required to prevent such battles from exceeding a certain predetermined length of time.
Included in the version update scheduled for early September will be modifications to the degree of difficulty of Pandemonium Warden (and associated pets), Absolute Virtue (and associated pets), and Jailer of Love. The aim of these changes is to create battles where a decisive outcome may be reached within a shorter period of time.
So cool, SE's is gonna make the shit rage.
Who took my dev team and what have you done with them?
This is already going to be the best update in forever because of this, any changes to AV/PW/Rutter Sabatons drop rate for Apelila are just icing on the cake. The only useful thing in this thread, however, has been Elmer's translation.
Still waiting for Rocl's Jailer weapon megazord.
If AV got a trigger item, then you could be fighting JoL and another LS pop AV on you when your GAing its summons... and CFH it and steal your JoL after the epic wipe

But you can't come here and say they're not 18-hour fights with no proof at all in any way, shape, or form and expect anyone to believe you or take it for what you want people to.
Right now, the only proof is in favor of it being 18 hours. People have fought for 18+ hours, countless attempts have been made with no success that have tried just about every little trick anyone can come up, SE representatives have said it's an 18+ hour fight, and even the video takes place over about as many hours, and now SE is obviously lieing to cover up the mistake in a statement (see: rage times).
You just have a hunch.
I don't know how long you've been on BG, but BG's Sundi meme is for the most part, just a fucking meme.SE is at fault for not giving us a decent clue on how to kill AV or PW, NOT for making an 18 hour fight. Sundi is the only person that said it was supposed to take that long. And I am still baffled why Sundi's word is law all of a sudden, when it never was before and he has obviously said many different incorrect things about the game.
I'm not defending Sundi or anything, but using a board's meme as evidence of anything is pretty retarded. Do you even know the real reasons behind it?
Sundi has been interviewed many times in the past as he's one of the closest connections to the JP world of FFXI we have, but that's his job. He reports what SE leadership tells him to report, says what SE leadership tells him to say, and holds no obligations to the game outside of that. He probably doesn't know anything about the game outside of what his job entails and SE folks tell him, hence the whole "I don't know" when players ask questions outside of the easy stuff.
If you're going to hold him at fault do it for the right reasons, not because of a meme. And with all that in mind considering his job position, while I won't trust him to know why theirs INT on RNG AF, I would trust him to know a little about one of the biggest controversial and feedback topics of end-game that he has had to discuss countless times.
What? You missed the point by a mile. The hint video were just snippets, you are reading far too much into them if you think the actual fight time was indicative of the fights actual length.
Back when the AV video first came out, people made a point about how the days and timers you see in the video clips, as well as the day/time it was killed, would make it an incredibly long time they were fighting. Make up all the BS you want to explain it but that just means what it is, they were doing it for HOURS.
Unless you think they were just messing with the game clock on the server to throw us off? OF COURSE THAT MUST BE IT!
I'm not looking too far into anything, I'm looking at the fact. You're just refusing to acknowledge it.
OK so them lieing about the reason for the rage timers isn't a contradiction? The only contradiction that exists is the one that you are creating to justify your view of blaming SE for creating an 18 hour fight.
Or the fact that the fight in the AV video took hours and hours?
Or again, the statement by Sundi?
Yeah I made those up, they really don't exist and have never happened.
Extremes in either direction don't make your argument sound better, it just makes it look stupid. What do you expect SE to do? Come out and say, we are sooooo sorry about everything we have ever done to upset you guys, here are free Riddles for everyone! This post today IS the apology. Seriously, I think people expect a major corporation to issue a personal apology to everyone in the game for something that wasn't done right.
I expect them to not lie about their intentions, and not lie about past updates. That whole statement makes it sound like SE never did anything wrong, and it was simply the player base that was at fault for the problems with AV and PW. They apologize for it, and even though it's not their fault, they'll still try to fix it.
Not really my idea of a favorable statement.
I said it before and I'll say it again, none of this would have happened if not for all the negative press. If SE really gave two shits something would've been done when the PLAYERS complained countless times over the past few years.
Still missing the point. This may all sound confrontational, but it's not. It's just the internet where group-think rules the day, when people should be stepping back and trying to look at the context of the situation. Anyone that actually believes that SE is not well-intentioned or actually believes that they are trying to intentionally deny enjoyment of the players have lost all touch with reality. We are learning the wrong lessons from all of this. We are trying to find blame where there is nothing to be found, we are looking for blood in retribution. We are all taking this shit way to fucking seriously.
It's not about missing the point and it's not about what SE thinks about the player base and wants from them.
LOL, Seraph your such a big meanie!
I agree raging would be a silly and sad way to fix this. I doubt that's what will happen, but my crystal ball is a little murky atm.
However if it's not how they intended to fix them they shouldn't of put "some players have engaged these enemies using unanticipated methods which led to extended battle times" in the same paragraph with a description of the implementation of rage timers.
I've always had to tank, so I could never check, but I assume the ??? is missing for the duration of the JoL fight and 15 minutes afterwards. This wouldn't be a problem.
The only issue would be linkshells cockblocking the leet AV attempting linkshells with their unimportant JoL popsets.
i wouldn't be surprised if this pushes back the update from early September > late September

and then I killed it.
If there is a trick, you'd think that the developers would be pretty disappointed that no one can trip over their retarded gimmick in the 3 years that AV has existed. But, seeing as how the players have found out you can nuke behind a wall and not get hit faster than figuring out this "trick" I'd say the likelihood of just randomly figuring it out is pretty low. Even lower when AV is chainspell meteoring you.
They need to give us some big fucking hints if a trick exists at all, in writing, no videos. Three years of being lost at sea in a raft with no paddle is enough. If they care at all about their players figuring out these monsters they need to give us more than regen and text log zoom.
Lol, this made me think of a conversation I once had with a creationist (ok, it wasn't really me, it was Bill Hicks):
Bill Hicks > So you really don't believe in evolution at all?
Religious Fanatic > Nope, not at all.
Bill Hicks > Well... What about dinosaur fossils then?
Religious Fanatic > Dinosaur fossils? God put those there to test our faith!
