So I have an older PC that I wanted to upgrade with another 1GB of memory, and am having issues now with the video card. It's a BFG Tech AGP GeForce 7800 GS 256 MB card, and after having installed the ram, I am now getting a persistent beeping noise whenever turning the PC on, and no video display. It boots just fine without the card installed, so I know that it's not related to the memory at all. I've also tried putting the card in without any memory at all and still get the beeping, further solidifying my hunch that it's the card causing the error.
I had no issues with the card prior to now, though it never really sat well in the slot due to a plate at the far end of the card coming into contact with the clips on a couple of the memory slots on the mobo. Even then I was able to seat it well enough that it was never an issue. Is it possible that I damaged it somehow when I removed it initially to install the extra memory? Physically, the card appears fine, so I don't know what could be wrong with it.
Other relevant specs:
MOBO: ASUS P4P800
CPU: Intel P4 @ 2.8ghz
RAM: 2gb (4x 512) Kingston Value Ram SDRAM DDR400 (PC3200)
PSU: Antec 380W (came with the Antec Sonata case)
I know that the card recommends at least a 400W PSU with a 12V rating 20A or more, but as mentioned I never had a problem with it before, even though the PSU has only 380W and 18A on the 12V rail. Any ideas?
