Restructuring the menus now, after a vast majority of us can pretty much navigate them blindfolded, is... yeah... no thanks.

Brandson addressed the vast majority of real UI issues when he put together his adjustment pack, and it's continued on today by Emiko with FFXI Style. The Windower pretty much handles the rest. Sorry if you're on X360 or lolPS2, but that's how it always is when it's console vs. PC.

i think i'd be alot happier if they'd just remove that stupid "You cannot do that while this window is open" or "you cannot use change equipment while this window is open" crap. thats really really annoying for people like me who like to read chat logs or check inventory whilst casting buffs or spells via macros. the interface is old and bland thats true, but i wouldnt want to migrate to something extremely different... just remove stupid stuff like mentioned above. I'm happy with emiko/brandson mods as it is for the moment.

my only beef here is that magic and abilities are in the big menu because you can sort them in that menu alone. which I do often, and removing them would make it impossible to do so.

Indeed. I'd really appreciate it if the damned UI would just automatically close the current window and open a new one. Like if I'm trying to search for certain people, I don't want to start from step one for every single person (especially if they're not online). I just want to type in /sea person1, (not online) /sea person2, (not online) and /sea person3, not /sea person1, esc, esc, /sea person2, esc, esc, then /sea person3, esc, esc.

I never got the point of not being able to use the interface while dead. I mean, we can chat while dead so it isn't because of "realism". >.> SE just feels like toying with us. And yes, the "Cannot do that while window is open" thing is truly and utterly annoying.
