He has dusk +1, a hauby +1, a black tathlum and what appears to be a Sniper's +1.

I think we've all seen plenty of relic SAMs geared much more crappily than that. There's nothing really wrong with him keeping his Suppa, and it's pretty silly to say "If you like NIN so much then upgrade a Kikoku". Perhaps he likes SAM almost as much, but it smart enough to realize that compared to an Amano, a kikoku is a waste of gil.

As for kikoku, its a piece of shit, why would I upgrade something that will barely up my damage by 5-10%

Not sure how dual wield jobs work and how/if its exponential like haste, or if its just a set reduction off then haste is applied to the new number, but isn't 5-10% going to be about what you get from suppa?

I think the general idea he's trying to communicate is the performance boost for an Amano SAM overall outweighs the performance boost that he'd get from sinking currency into a Kikoku.

Amano is roughly an 18% boost in melee damage without factoring in 2.5 procs, Accuracy or the lower delay. The average WS increase obviously depends on what you're fighting but for merit level stuff which is the majority of what you fight (limbus/salvage/einherjar) its a fairly substantial boost, and obviously kaiten recieves a much much larger boost from attack.

It doesn't change the job in any way but it is a large boost in damage output and kaiten really doesn't suck on HNMs as much as I thought it would, when berserk is down I do normally stick to gekko still though.

And yes, I was making a comparison between the two different weapons because there is no question that Amano adds a larger % to your damage.

Amano isn't a million times greater than Hagun but comparing Kikou to other Katana's it's pretty epic, no?

One thing I think people forget about Hagun is that its a martial weapon and it has very low damage when you compare it to other jobs. War is already using perdu vougle which has 96 dmg and by upgrading to bravura you're only gaining another 3 damage and an almost identical delay reduction.

That's one of the reasons that Futsuno proformed better than Hagun as well iirc. Yay for our 75 dmg weapon;;
