Basically, 10% damage boost when using the staff with Elemental Seal which of course beats HQ Staves and you shouldn't have to worry about losing some magic accuracy.

That is great but info of MAB at 200% and 299% would be perfect. Nuke lowest lvl mobs and post gear and dmg. (By great I mean info, although we already knew that something could have been missed)

Well, looking at it from a curious perspective, it does beat HQ staffs every 10 minutes (or less if you....merit elemental seal...lol) so it's not a total loss. Not a horrible weapon but also not worth the effort to be honest.

Well at least I know i'll be upgrading Murgleis now! Assuming it works with current max HP, with a good convert build (1100 HP - 1100 MP) you'd get back 550 HP. As a Taru, one Cure 3 and you're almost back to full HP.

It seems to be equivalent to +12-13 MAB during ES, compared to HQ staves. Your only option is /sam now.

Edit: Simple Math, these values aren't very accurate but the conclusions are:

Liberator Delay = 2x Kraken Club delay, 528
Liberator Average swings per attack round with LVL3 Aftermath = 1.5~1.7
Assuming /WAR and Brutal earring, and being generous, we'll call it 2.
    Maximum possible haste = 80%
    1 attack round = 1.76 seconds.

    Kraken Delay = 264
Average swings per attack round = ~4.5
    Maximum possible haste = 68.3%
    1 attack round = 1.40 seconds (roughly)

    In 30 seconds:
Kraken will swing up to 96 times (in a perfect, unrealistic setting)
Liberator will swing 34 times (in a perfect, unrealistic setting).

Weapon skilling at all on either will slow down your damage, it is not wise, however you need to WS on Liberator at the start.

Assuming a somewhat standard 1800 HP setup
    Souleater Damage Breakdown:
    Kraken: 20,736 damage
    Liberator: 7,344 damage

    Weaponskill Damage Breakdown:
    Kraken: 0 damage
    Liberator: ~1,000 damage

    Regular Melee damage:
    Kraken: 1056 * average_pDIF_Kraken
    Liberator: 3162 * average_pDIF_Liberator

Let's assume it's very high for Liberator, 2.0, and very low for Kraken, 1.0

    Total Damage:
    Kraken: 21,792 damage
    Liberator: 14,668 damage

Accuracy should be capped for both weapons (Feint), and can thus be ignored.
This ignores the time it takes to use Last Resort, and the delay from the weapon skill of the Liberator.

For reference, an Apocalypse would do about 7k at best in a zerg.

The higher HP you can get, the more a Kraken Club is favored.

Tekki: I apologize for shitting up the Relic thread, I'll try not to do it again.
Is this true? Apoc only does about 7k... which mean Liberator does more then twice the amount of damage in a zerg then apoc?

Also, I obviously don't have an apoc, but I always assumed it did more damage then k-club in zerges. I mean alot of people have upgraded one.
Does k-club really beat it that badly? Can anyone confirm that? lol.

Yes Kraken Club really does beat it that badly. People don't upgrade Apocalypse for zerging.

If the tier-1 aftermath is +10 m.acc, and you're soloing on RDM to keep it up, you get NQ (wups) stave accuracy but with a sword.

Was fun to use at FanFest, for what that's worth. (It's not worth it for me.)

I hope that allows me to post this horribly long simple math breakdown of relics and mythics in terms of utility and marginal benefit. (It's huge, so in a spoiler tag.)

    Spoiler: show

We best judge these weapons, in order to decide whether or not to "create" another one, based on current instances of the weapon. This assumes the person who wants a relic or mythic has the resources to complete it.
    • many people have relic weapons so those are easier to gauge than mythic
      • Aegis has highest returns to society, followed by Gjallarhorn (or maybe Horn > Shield depending on the society in question)
      • ranking of other melee job weapons is controversial
      • Catastrophe, and thus Bec de Faucon and Apocalypse, change nature of DRK
      • Samurai should perform more WS per time interval, over their entire playtime, than any other job when properly geared, although not necessarily in a short given time (re: DRK, RNG)
      • Namas Arrow hits for 160 CE 480 VE (regardless of level of mob or damage)
      • Spharai have less marginal benefit than other relics offer but is, of course, still the best H2H
      • while Excalibur is powerful, Aegis is better for PLD and RDM do not melee at events
      • Claustrum is a status symbol only. One we get to laugh at.
    • mythic weapons provide otherwise unseen benefits however these are mysterious for the most part... (see huge like XBOX list farther on)
      • Kogarasumaru is going to activate TP300:AM the easiest
      • Burtgang is the best pure tank sword around (despite the Joytoy Atonement spam situation)
      • I think you get the idea with these, though

How much information is enough information?
At some point you either have to make a decision or resign yourself to not having decided in time.
For a Mythic Weapon, there are many parts to it besides currency (Alexandrite). But the Alexandrite and the ZNM pop items are seen as the biggest hurdle.
For a Relic Weapon, each additional stage costs more and more currency (and some Dynamis Items) but it's obviously achievable.

Should people consider where they are on all the parts of the Mythic build progression? That's reasonable. Relic is really straightforward to chart by comparison.

This should be a carefully reasoned economic decision of how to "spend" your effort and time. The opportunity cost of FFXI is high or low based on the rest of your life. Decide what your time is worth.

    That said...

A Breakdown of the Mythic Weapons in Case You Care
DPS VALUES ARE WITHOUT LEVEL3 AFTERMATH
Kogarasumaru might be rockin' (that is the technical term right?) and maybe Liberator YMMV

    WARRIOR - Conqueror
    Spoiler: show
    • increases Critical Hit rate during Berserk by 5%
    • loss of 1.1 DPS; 9% less than Bravura and no Metatron Torment
    • or loss of 0.36 DPS; 3.15% less than Perdu Voulge
    • no Acc/Att except on Aftermaths
    MONK - Glanzfaust
    Spoiler: show
    • arguably worse than Destroyers
    WHITE MAGE - Yagrush
    Spoiler: show
    • permanent Divine Veil (at FanFest)
    • swapped out for Cure Potency
    BLACK MAGE - Laevateinn
    Spoiler: show
    • waste of an inventory slot
    RED MAGE - Murgleis
    Spoiler: show
    • Death Blossom's Magic Evasion Down combined with TP100: Magic Acc Up
    • this might replace NQ Staves, but how often does RDM melee in a LS event?
    • hilarious loss of 2.891 DPS (21.26%) compared to Joyeuse
    THIEF - Vajra
    Spoiler: show
    • loss of 4 DPS; 30% less than Mandau and no Mercy Stroke
    • bonus to SATA was not amazing during limited FanFest tests
    PALADIN - Burtgang
    Spoiler: show
    • one of the few weapons we have definitive Aftermath information for
    • reduces physical damage taken by 3% more than Hauteclaire
    • incomparable stat of Volatile Enmity loss down 10%
    • in addition has added 10% Enmity gain to all actions
    • loss of 1.05 DPS; 9.13% less than Hauteclaire
    • or loss of 3.151 DPS; 23.17% less than Joyeuse
    DARK KNIGHT - Liberator
    Spoiler: show
    • unknown increase to Absorb spells
    • loss of 1.48 DPS; 12.28% less than Apocalypse
    • or loss of 0.57 DPS; 5.12% less than Perdu Sickle
    • unknown Aftermath Accuracy boost, compare to 20 from Relic or 5 from Perdu
    • has Magic Accuracy +20 though
    BEASTMASTER
    Spoiler: show
    • gonna skip BST no harm meant but I know next to nothing about Beastmaster game things
    • so either this would be insulting to the BSTs if I talk about it or insulting that I'm not talking about it... lose/lose
    BARD - Carnwenhan
    Spoiler: show
    • get a Gjallarhorn
    • that was not a joke, but Carnwenhan is
    • except if you already have a Gjallarhorn, then +20% song duration is great
    • just consider the cost if it's one or the other
    RANGER - Gastraphetes
    Spoiler: show
    • does not add the super-cool-low-enmity Namas Arrow, a pity
    • increases Barrage accuracy by an unknown value
    • lacks the Ranged Accuracy +20 and Ranged Attack +10 of Yoichinoyumi
    • except that the first Aftermath level is Ranged Accuracy Increase
    • loss of 1.15 DPS; 12.4% less than Yoichinoyumi
    • or loss of 0.57 DPS; 6.56% less than Eurytos' Bow
    • does something to reduce Delay, though, so actual DPS is in question
    SAMURAI - Kogarasumaru
    Spoiler: show
    • loss of 1.28 DPS; 10.6% less than Amanomurakumo
    • or loss of 0.4 DPS; 3.57% less than Onimaru (I know, don't use Onimaru)
    • or gain of 0.8 DPS; 8% higher than Hagun but no TP Bonus
    • or gain of 0.66 DPS; 6.58% higher than Soboro Sukehiro but slower to 100TP (based on 30:50:20 SA:DA:TA ratio)
    • unknown effect to Third Eye
    • does not have any non-Aftermath boosts to Accuracy or Attack
    • does not add any new Weapon Skill and Aftermaths only with Tachi: Rana
    NINJA - Nagi
    Spoiler: show
    • loss of 2.22 DPS; 18.5% less than Kikoku, and no access to Blade: Metsu
    • or loss of 0.264 DPS; 2.63% less than Senjuinrikio and no boost to Critical Hit rate
    • Enmity increased by 10%
    • Magic Accuracy +10 (whatever that means for Ninja)
    • does something to your Mijin Gakure, good luck with that
    DRAGOON - Ryunohige
    Spoiler: show
    • loss of 1.1 DPS; 9.02% less than Gungnir and no Accuracy +20
    • or loss of 0.46 DPS; 3.98% less than Valkyrie's Fork and no Double Attack or Store TP
    • or loss of 0.36 DPS; 3.14% less than Thalassocrat and no DEX+2 VIT+2
    • all Jumps are auto-critical
    • only weapon in this kind of range that is going to increase Wyvern's stats
    • you'll be using Drakesbane anyway so why not get an Aftermath too?
    SUMMONER - Nirvana
    Spoiler: show
    • Perp Cost -4 makes this hands down the best SMN staff
    • also it only takes up one inventory slot vs. eight HQ staves
    • boosts Avatar's Magic Attack by 20 for those merited BPs
    • so yeah cool actually
    BLUE MAGE - Tizona
    Spoiler: show
    • I'm not really qualified to comment on this because BLU escapes my purview
    • wait, was I qualified to comment on any of these weapons?
    • Magic Accuracy +20 is great but does it apply to Physical Spells or not
    • the occasional MP drain is nice
    CORSAIR - Death Penalty
    Spoiler: show
    • gain of 1 DPS; 25% more than Coffinmaker
    • or gain of 0.87 DPS; 21.065% more than Silver Cassandra (NQ)
    • or gain of 0.62 DPS; 14.155 % more than Great Cassandra (HQ)
    • and it doesn't have the TP boost of Martial Gun
    • if Aftermath TP:100 is +9 Ranged Accuracy, same R.Acc+ as Coffinmaker or more
    • does something cool to Quick Draw but we don't know what
    • how many Corsairs really are geared for damage dealing in addition to support?
    • no base damage gain over Coffinmaker, but Leaden Salute ignores DMG values
    PUPPETMASTER - Kenkonken
    Spoiler: show
    • it's shiny for PUP, who is PUP fulltime?
    • enhancement to Martial Arts might actually make PUP work in endgame
    • seems very powerful but I don't play PUP
    • light the Elmer-beacon, he'll know what to do! (seriously)
    DANCER - Terpsichore
    Spoiler: show
    • increases the Finishing Moves gained from Steps
    • unknown if Step duration or effect is altered
    • loss of 0.93 DPS; 9.3% less than Azoth
    • I'm running out of interesting comments to make here
    SCHOLAR - Tupsimati
    Spoiler: show
    • Scholar is better than Black Mage in some cases (thank you Kaeko)
    • Tupsimati is worse than HQ Staves (thank you whoever designed it)
    • Dev Team does not play mages or else they forgot Elemental Staves have hidden effects

Was just over reading http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/ffxi-...testing-8.html and it really seems that way. Left my tongue planted firmly in my cheek. Most of the mythics make me go "isn't it sad?" Then again I am tempted to work out not just the easy DPS results but find out exact TP returns with different gear sets, assume varying DA rates and so on.

    To the Excel-cave!

All I could get out of it was that the weapon as it is doesn't affect Third Eye yet, and they have multiple Tyger pops ready but nothing on Sarameya or Tinnin. Oh, and sad that the "double edge" is only at the tip of the weapon (I think). Thanks for the link, though!

Assuming the zergers zerged perfectly, it would be closer to this:

    (With 1800 HP)
    Kraken: 18k
    Liberator: 12k
    Apoc: 7k

The more HP you have the more Kraken is favored.
