I'm just being a realist. I see so many uber pimped out PLDs with everything a PLD could ever want using Aegis/Excal and I wonder why. 99% of them have Haut, which actually helps them do their job. Excal offers NOTHING to tanking ability. If you're geared to tank properly, then you won't have enough ACC to hit consistently anyway (on anything hard), and so the ~10% (last I heard) proc rate on the Add effect is going to be even MORE rare of an occurrence, and so you aren't doing notable damage ANYWAY.

Sure, the weapon slot isn't a make or break deal, but the PLDs I see with Excal got to where they are min/maxing all of their stats. That's what being good MEANS in this game. How many millions do they pay for that Hades+1 just for 2 Enmity, or that Lamia Kaman +1 for a few MP and one more MDB. What did it take for that Speed/V-Belt for the extra 2% haste over Swift? 1 Extra Shield skill for M.Head+1? All this effort to maximize crucial stats for every slot, and then they give up the easiest +4 Enmity they can get for a shiny pokey stick that doesn't help a goddamn bit for anything other than farming and MAYBE recapping XP (Though they probably STILL won't get a decent meripo).

Give me a fucking break.

Congrats anyway, just don't go around thinking it makes you any better of a PLD.

Excal is amazing and though situational, is fantastic for many fights.

everytime i seen excaliber in action, it sucked ass. I never seen the super crit process though as it is so rare. knights of the round with almost 2000 HP PLD yielded only 500 dmg on a damn qutrub. (which take like triple damage from weaponskills), while the Hexa strikes from the whm were doing over 1000. He did like 3 more knight of the round on the qutrub when we were farming for medusa keys, and they did all under or equal to around 500-600 damage. He had full HP and HP gear.
the same PLD uses atonement (this pld has ares body, etc everything you can think of, full askar set, AF+1 body, a bunch of different bodies and gears on him) He uses atonement and does 1200 damage on a qutrub. How did he do 20% of tiamats damage. You sure it wasnt a 6 man jormy, where the blms did 80% damage and he pulled the other 20% lol. What were his super critical hits doing to tiamat?
This is the relic weapon, and I want to believe its the best sword in the game like it should be for its effort obtained to get it, but it sucks bad and hopefully I am wrong.
I also seen the h2h in action and the katana. The h2h excal and katana were the 3 ppl in my server that are the best pld mnk and nin in our server, so they weren't sucky noobs.
One guy is the leader of the #1 JP LS in the server, and one is a maats cap BTL member. He personally told me katana sucks balls and crits like 1% of the time. ninja said you can get 3 merits before you see a crit hit lol. The Galka said the h2h was so crappy and you wouldnt notice a difference if you had destroyers already. He also said the crit hit is slim to none that it didnt even matter.
The excaliber guy I never asked him about his sword, I just watch it and it disappoints, another rdm has an excaliber and you would never know, cause he never equiped it ever again after the first week he got it. Not even while soloing bune lol since he bind nuked.
I have seen the blm staff in action, its really worth it. (sarcasm) I can buy a 7k ice staff NQ that can perform better. If they want mages to weaponskill, their weapon should have meditate/regain built in or something lol. Even full swing sucked on this weapon and its got some of the highest WS Mods in the game, I think even higher then sidewinder.
The new WS is worth it, the new emn and -dmg taken is worth it, and the aftermath will probably make this weapon good for meleeing AND for tanking. Its a mini-ridill, and the acc/attk buffs on aftermath will also affect the Weaponskills.
When they make ALL crit hits process a super crit on dynamis weapons, and make the weaponskills process a super crit at 10% of the time, then they can be on par, maybe.
As for all them old-spells in the .DATs like meteor II and Tier V spells... nvm, claustrum would still suck lol.
As funny as it sounds, I always liked seeing whm melee in skillup parties, besieged, and campaign battle, to my suprise they were really good. Hexa strike looks cool and does damage, I have seen mjollier (sp?) and k-club offhanded, and that whm was owning things and getting MP back from weaponskills, I even seen this whm melee in meripo and keep MP up. She even seemed to outparse the nin in the party lol. (standard perdu blade ninja nothing too fancy gear) Even so, the relics just suck untill they fix the super crit process, and the mage staves have no hope, unless they add like conserve MP 50% and a new spell like meteor on the claustrum, it will always suck. End key.

I think you missed something.

1. KoR isn't effected by HP, the additional effect is. Atonement is enmity modified, and at capped hate will provide a constant.
2. The damage to Tiamat is done by wearing appropriate gear and through additional effect damage.
3. You really don't seem to understand relics. They are not put ahead of other weapons just because of the multiplied damage proc.
4. We already know Claustrum sucks.
5. Just because Hexa Strike looks good, doesn't mean WHM is a good DD.
