This is nice. Now the levels where it sucks finding a camp you can just find a level 55 party leader and beat up on lesser colibri.. I like this..

WHM can stay 40-48 forever!
I can also like, go EXP my SAM again, just join a level 70 PT.. since I don't have a Hagun and haven't finished Store TP merits and haven't gotten the best gear setup for that, etc... that just opens me back up for playing a job for fun without feeling completely stupid in merits.
I dunno, I just see a lot of good possibilities here. :D
I see a huge increase in skillup parties 6 months from now.
I couldn't agree more with Ashira, all this does is bridges the gap between levels seeking which is pretty amazing. Some people fail to realize not everyone has or wants 5 - 8 jobs, and not everyone has a desired job that will be invited to a 20~30k an hour merit party. In my opinion this is nothing but a beneficial tool for everyone to have.
Honestly, if you were 52-54+ would you gimp your EXP to party with some people in Crawler's Nest? I'd rather wait for an AU party personally. I've never really noticed a lack of invites pre-AU. It'll be everyone pre-AU and everyone post-AU that would sync.
Meh, overall it seems decent I guess. Maybe it will make finishing BLU easier. In the end it still doesn't solve the crowding in merit camps and I think it'll result in the overcrowding of lower end camps now too. >_>;
wow.... the most epic update just yet..
Most of the general negative comments made about the last couple of updates have come in this form.
"It doesn't help me and I hate it, and I can't consider how it might help the vast majority of players, so it is bad."
The simple solution for people that don't like this is to not do it.
Ashira is dead on. Even if you can't think about how it will help other people, at least be realistic about the fact that it isn't going to negatively effect anyone.
lrn2/anon fixed.
Edit to answer above:
The gear change isn't just for the level restricting, as I read it. It's across the board. and if not that, it would work for capped areas I'm sure.
Edit again
With the introduction of this system, there will also be major changes to the way equipment is handled in regard to level restrictions. Rather than automatically unequipping items if a player's level is reduced below the item's minimum level, the attributes of high-level equipment will be scaled down proportionally to the reduced level.
This will apply not only to the Level Sync system, but to all level-restricted areas and missions. This means that players will now be able to participate in various battlefields, Assault missions, and Ballista, and also to adventure in level-capped areas such as Riverne without the hassle of having to switch equipment!
Despite the complaining, this is a much needed and awesome change. I know some of the cranky 75s are mad they really can't abuse this new system, but the issues of leveling from 10 - 75 have been seriously addressed.
People have been asking for this for a looooong time, and SE delivers. ...and you are still gonna bitch? Come on guys. =P
I see this as helping parties fix level gaps, helping lower level people exp, and helping burnt out endgamers get a nice change of pace.
The absolute only drawback is some people are going to have to /anon more than usual, and a few people might actually have to go fight some level capped no exp loss missions without having to mule gear. So what? I see a few people really trying to level their bitching skills today. >.>
Edit: I also see all new potential for people mouthing off in parties about how high their jobs are and how advanced their skills are. Level Down Gear Setup or GTFO?
Well, I also don't get how Alibee's solution, of increasing EXP below 37, would honestly solve the issues people are having leveling new jobs/lower jobs. All you'd do is get people to 37 fast and then still have no tanks etc for jobs they want to continue to 60/75.
The issues with lower level exp is lack of needed jobs at the needed levels, and now those people LV40-50 can all PT together and still get their levels. Increasing EXP to 37 or 50 or anything would, if anything, make the problem worse: you'd get a group of people lucky enough to find each other who'd tear through the levels, and still leave a bunch of others flailing around seeking.
looks like i picked the wrong week to make a huge batch of rose wand +1's, solid wands, etc.
This is easily shaping up as the best update ever, not just in quality but in quantity too. They certainly have been at work to make all these goodies happen. Now if they would just split nyzul and salvage entry requirements......
Some people are posting here like they can just cap to whichever level you like.
Keep in mind kiddies, you cap to the level of someone in the party, not an optional cap!
Okok I may have jumped the gun. I still stick by my "no haste, no refresh gear, no merit party" statement... and hint: you can already merit in the pastbut the most I have ever seen there is ~12k/hr but its still better then anything you will get level capping yourself. To those of you saying you want to break up the monotony of meriting... Id rather get 24k/hr and spend 4 hours capping my merits and enjoy the next 20, then getting 4k and hour and "meriting" for 24 hours ^^ Which is more monotonous?
That being said.. I do see the bonus in finding lower lvl xp parties you can have much more of a level range to look for members in. In fact, if you have a normal xp party getting great xp at a certain camp, you dont have to worry about people dinging and killing it, you can just stay at the same level for the entire party (or until the last person outgrows the camp)
One thing that will be humorous will be trying to keep up with all the stats on every piece of gear depending on level range. Ex. Sure you can wear your 75 gear at any level cap, but is it worth it over another piece you might have laying around. Sure I can wear my sea torques at lv 50, but at that level peacock charm would blow them away.
Level sync won't work, but gear will still be scaled down. This will apply not only to the Level Sync system, but to all level-restricted areas and missions. This means that players will now be able to participate in various battlefields, Assault missions, and Ballista, and also to adventure in level-capped areas such as Riverne without the hassle of having to switch equipment!
Good LAWD... from out of nowhere, when you least expect it...
BAM
SE hits a homerun!
