Picking this up from Steam when I get home. No invasive DRM + awesome game = buy instead of pirate, hear that EA? Maybe you should give those two strategies a try one of these days.

Any hands-on reports on how buggy the game is? That's always been a major issue with Bethesda titles all the way back to DOS days, and it's by far my largest concern with their handling of the Fallout franchise. Hopefully the fact that they're not using a completely new engine will help a lot.

I'm also very interested to see if they'll make Fallout 3 as moddable as Oblivion was some day. One of the major redeeming features of both Morrowind and Oblivion was that they were practically infinitely customizable, and I'd imagine that the Fallout community will be able to do amazing things if they get the right tools. They've said that they won't be releasing editors with the game due to time constraints, but they also haven't really said that they'll be releasing them after either, they've been very vague and noncommital.

Yeah its rather easy, just tell them you want the 360 version instead, should be np at all as long as they have extra copies, if not, buy the PS3 version and go exchange it at another store.

I recall reading one of their dev diaries, or an E3 interview, stating that a construction kit like Morrowind/Oblivion will not be available, at least to start. I'm buying the PC version because I want to have the option for mods in the future, as well as .ini file tweaking and the like. I'm sure there will be a significant fan outcry for a SDK on the PC version of the game; who knows, maybe some people will figure out how to get the Oblivion construction kit to work with F3 lol.

Should I bother getting the strat guide? I've only ever bought one guide and that was for FF8 eons ago.

According to the NOPE review most of the sexual content from the previous games has been removed ( /sadpanda ) and there was also the previous hoopla over the removal of drugs from the game.

I dunno Fren, Bethesda games are pretty deep... the guide that i had for Oblivion was WELL worth it. I am not getting the F3 guide today with the game, but i might a bit down the line.

Personally, I would hold off on any strat guides until you've had the chance to really explore and see the game. A big part of my enjoyment from open-world games like The Elder Scrolls or MMOs is that sense of wonder you get when you take those fresh steps into a totally new world. Knowing what's going to happen and where really detracts from that feeling.

I'm sure GameFAQs will be flooded with guides soon enough anyway.

The drugs weren't removed, they were just renamed from "morphine" to "Med-X" to make it legal to sell in Australia. The sex content was mostly a Fallout 2 thing due to New Reno, and it really wasn't featured prominently in Fallout 1 at all, so I don't see it as much of a loss. More of the whining about censorship seems to be about the removal of groin shots and the ability to kill small children, which are more substantial removals. If they ever do release modding tools, I'd imagine there will be mods to add these features back, which is another reason to hope that they do release editors some day.

I picked up the guide, I figure at a hefty 464 pages it was worth it. 20% off with Edge card, so why not. I won't be using it on the first run through though, just scanning the info chapters before the actual walkthrough. The Gamestop Exclusive Skill Card is kinda nice, and I am sure the full map will be too.

Wow, 464 pages. Reminds me of the TES III: Morrowing GotY guide, that thing was practically a phone book but it was so increadibly useful for a game that would give you directions to a dungeon like "Travel for 3 hours Northwest of Ashurumbapal to the wierd shape rock, take a left, and you will find the tomb of Neralizalkrtms" >_>

Yeah, that was a large part of why i grabbed it. Knowing how Oblivion was... knowing that this game could potentially span 100 hours (all told, with story being completable in 20)... it just made sense.

Yeah they only stocked what was pre-ordered lol. Oh well, I'm sure the bugs will get patched (don't care too much about DLC) and I feel actually playing the game will be far better than me hunting around town for a 360 copy. ^^

Signing out of PSN (based on the comments above about system messages causing issues), I haven't encountered a single problem in 3-4 hours of playing. Aside from a 1/2 second audio skip during the opening cinema, I haven't seen any real flaws/glitches with the PS3 version.

The VATS system is great, it really does help the game feel like old school Fallout. It does feel a little exploitable though, since you can hide behind cover and wait for AP points to build up, pop out for a millisecond and fire off a bunch of rounds before your opponents can react, then go hide again.

Also, where are people finding the Bobbleheads so far? (spoilering it just in case)

    Spoiler: show
I've found one in Vault 101 (+10 Medicine) and then in Lucas Simm's house (+1 STR)
