Having a more job oriented and other specific board than BG is pretty useful, and is the only thing that I miss about KI after I got sick of the load times and stopped going there and started coming here.

Granted, BG has a newbie forum which is basically the same thing, albeit a little less organized if I wanted to browse topics dealing with a specific job, but having boards dedicated to PvP means I won't get laughed at if I ever feel inclined to make a post about it. Actually getting responses from people that do (or did) ballista consistently is a plus. Just so much easier to browse and scroll through old threads in the Monk board if I wanted to look for Monk specific information or learn how to play the job.

Oh and server boards = drama goodness, though Alla server boards sees more traffic and drama.

Job forums there are great, server boards were nice before everyone migrated to BG, since there was dramalama all over, it was great. Now, not so much. Remora was just an exciting board to watch right after that world shift, it was basically a "Post nudies of <person you hate>" since EVERYONE ON REMORA SENT NUDES for some stupid reason.

This pretty much covers my feelings as well.

I usually go there to look up info on various jobs I may be leveling as a starting point for info. Sure some things need to be updated (like gear guides), but for the most part, its a really nice starting point.

Mage boards on the other hand.... Stay away from Rdm and Smn forums like the plague. Rdm can be decent at times, but the last time I checked, it seemed like a majority of the threads were about meleeing...

Midgard forum was shit from day one. Carbuncle forum used to have some kick ass drama but now barely anyone hangs around. Black Mage forum was ok until it became the Jerk off Rambus show, with the Scholar forum coming pretty close to the same situation. Samurai was usually the only decent forum for me.

Yeah Alex drama thread was an institution and the rest of that board died when it was killed.

I used to use the event/mission/job forums occasionally but got frustrated with the speed, so I'll probably go check it out. Still has excellent guides to CoP missions 8-2 and 8-3 on it which I refer people to.

Speed is nice. The theme, eh, doesn't seem very space efficient, but at least it's not intolerably slow now, which is one of the main reasons I stopped going there regularly.

I think, though, that it was years too late, since the second reason I stopped going there much was the relative lack of activity, which in turn was probably because of the glacial response times. I mean, it ain't dead like some boards (FFVault, I'm lookin' at you), but compared to BG or Alla...kinda slow.

depending alexander's drama thread was over 500 pages when i was nuked, and is now almost 1100 pages on its site.. uh. Servers.

Also, it's a shame KI couldn't upgrade their content by kicking people like Rambus off. I just ran through the board quickly and remembered why I never bothered with it since June something or other.

I actually like Rambus, I know I am in the minority with my opinion lol, but I play on the same server as him and he actually knows what he is doing despite what it seems on the Blm boards or wherever you see him. I used to poke fun at his spleling and what not also back in the old Flamewars section but that was long time ago. He's a cool dude.

People also tend to have a "forum" personality that is different from their in game personality. There were a couple people I thought I would absolutely hate based on their posts but they turned out to be really cool in game. The opposite has been true as well though. Very knowledgeable posters being complete garbage in player skill in game.

Don't worry Son, he ruins the BLU forums too :/ on a sidenote, all the KI forums seem to be getting more activity with the improved speed. Checking Carby and seeing posts in 4-5 threads is nice.

Alot of stuff were originally from KI, such as the chopper zerg idea, how haste work etc (Kirschy posts on KI regularly back then when we were trying to find out those haste caps), and those are just what I know, could be alot more. They have some very good melee discussions and stuff and is easier to search for info due to that each job has its own forum.

Now that most ppl have a good understanding of how haste, acc, hit build, damage formula work (alot of it is contributed by KI), there really isn't too much to talk about regarding melee aside from some comparison of equips, new merit setup etc. Which is why it has been pretty dead lately.

If you avoid reading posts from retarded ppl, then you will most likely be able to find alot of useful info on KI.
