One of my JP "friends" got mad at me when I gave her the link to ffxiah.com, telling me not to spread "virus containing" sites.

I think Elmer should teach the general populace about the wonders of Firefox + NoScript + AdBlock.

That brings me to this question:

The /check message in JP says "stares at you" (same msg as /stare), and it's considered rude.

Not many JP users come to US boards... because not many people understand English well enough, and there's usually enough (often more) info on the JP side.

Also I could be wrong but it's my impression a lot more JP players use controllers over keyboards... in my LS a good half of so of the members use controllers.

I noticed most taru's are perv like, mithra are shy teen girl type figure, elv are portrayed as masculine, and galka as the "lazy guy" and or "kind old man" as I heard from some Japanese people. How do the general public see them as?

I made a decent amount of Japanese friends being the perv mithra though haha o_O (mostly with other mithra though XD)

Also I kind of wondered, do Japanese prefer to play a character of same gender as their irl self or they don't really care?

Anyway serious one would be "What do you think of the people that put JP Only in their PT comment. An EXP pt doesn't take much communication to explain it and while there are JP people that invite and accept invites from both it just seems JP people tend to shun away other client base even if they are from Taiwan and don't speak JP.

What's a good way to meet friendly JP people?

When I first started the game, the idea of culture exchange was exciting to me. I went out and bought a book for English <-> Japanese translation and such. But the way the game turned out, there's such a divide between cultures, that after many years of playing I can't say that I even have any real Japanese FFXI friends.

Are all JPs as pervy as Gulkeeva, or is there just a JP version of Gulkeeva?

Actually, I think it would be interesting to ask if there are JP counterparts to most of the admin / dominant users, to go along with the Ruke/Kani question earlier. Not sure who else to ask about though.
