I was talking to a jp bud, and asked him about /check.

It isn't that the text message is particularly rude, it's just a difference in cultures.

I finally found an example to which he said "yes, that's it exactly", when I said 'Ah, in America, if I was sitting on a bus reading a Newspaper or Book, and the guy sitting next to me asked me about the page I was reading, I wouldn't be offended, I'd probably just start talkin about it.'

To which he said "Oh no, it is very impolite, but it is ok if you were to ask 'excuse me, mind if I ask what you're reading?', same with check, JP ask '/check ok?' when trying to be polite."

    Just a personal space thing.

So I explained to him, me personally, I'm proud of my gear, I like being checked randomly.

Just like in America, people enjoy sharing opinions about likes and dislikes, so it would be somewhat flattering to be asked about a book you were reading.

Here's a question I have for Japanese players and I want a serious answer:
Why do the majority of Japanese players state in search comment, "JP Only" or "[English][party][No thanks.]"?

While leveling a job, particularly my DNC, which has taken me two to three months to get from level 66 to 72, it has annoyed me the most that I could not get players for an XP party because of the following reasons:
    - No tanks on in my level range
    - No healers on in my level range
    - No DDs on in my level range
    - A combination of 1 to 3 of the above
    - Stubborn or picky players
    - Players at 70+ only wanting a merit-burn party or no party at all (aka "take the easy way out to 75)
    - Japanese players refusing to party with a NA player
I've had instances where the moment I invited a JP player and speaking in the best Japanese I could do, they disband the moment they see at least one NA player in the party.

Isn't that unfair to us? I'm trying to level a job for goodness sakes and I care less what country you are from so long you know how to play your job and don't cause problems for other party members.

It's become gratingly annoying and pushing my patience trying to get a job to 75.

It's either Bismarck server is lacking players nowadays with the jobs needed to make an experience points party work, or there are too many picky players on this server.

I'm getting annoyed mostly when the times I level there are mostly Japanese players on and they refuse to XP with me. I speak Japanese and French semi-fluently, and I have no qualms or reservations with leveling with a Japanese player.

But, for goodness sakes, the Japanese players shouldn't group every rude and conceited NA player with the others that aren't like that.

I just want to level a job. And, if this cannot be fixed or resolved in the new "level sync" come September, I will not take another job to 75. Period.

All I ask is that the Japanese players be more mindful, open-minded and understanding.

And, I ask the same from NA players that are rude and conceited, and try not to make us look bad for the rest of us.

I haven't noticed a majority of JP's doing that, but Carby is also an old JP heavy server, and they've finally learned that we're not anymore likely to be morons than they are (mostly >.>)... except GR, who still seem to hate us NA's.

Thank you Elmer for trying to help close the gap between us.

Do JP still implement the SC+MB in their parties or use the TP burn method like most NA/EUs do?

Does the JP community miss the whole renkei magic burst style?

    And sharing democracy!

But seriously, ask how they feel about server transfers. Do JPs from other servers go through background checks before allowed into a linkshell?

How do japanese players feel about cross-nationality in their linkshells (eg. NA + EU + JP)? Do they feel the language barrier ultimately overrides any potential skill those who don't speak japanese, may have? Or, do they not mind so long as the players skill is high enough to understand certain situations without having to use tab-key spam?

I have a question: is there a particular reason JP never TP burn Kirin?

Do they TP burn any big fights like that? Did it just never catch on?

We'd periodically get a JP group gathering when we were, and we'd ask them if they would let us pop first, since it would just be the 15 min ??? repop + 1 minute fight.

They would give us some strange responses, then say ok, then we a'splode Kirin and they're like "oh! good job!"

Did that never catch on in the JP community, or is it just thought better to do the kite til Smn's pop/die, whittle it down for 40 minutes method?

Hell, I was logging up there the night before a burn (we usually did them Sunday morning, so I would beat the porter the night before, since it's the hardest part of any Kirin fight), and saw a shell, Usukane Sam's and Nin's, Wars with almost everything short of Ebody, two or three Brds+ multiple people that I'm sure have Brd leveled, all the decked melees you could possibly need... whittling him down old school.

When looking at NA endgame players, are their alternative gear choices you notice are common vs. JP players?

Which issues do you think would benefit most from combined efforts from the JP and NA playerbase, hence making the game better for everyone? The PW/AV changes seem to indicate that sometimes, an effort from a different angle can get a critical change implemented.

I noticed one thing, Kyreth, where JP mages (from what I can tell, not a mage myself) tend to have their shit pretty well together when they're all geared out and Morrigan'D up, the melees often seem a little... eccentric in some cases.

Cue pictures of Togi +1 Spharai BB Monks who full time AF +1 hands, and other weird little quirks like that.

And this is why I'd like to ask that question. I'm curious if that's just generally more accepted, or there's a philsophy behind it to begin with.

JP mages have some 'eccentric' by our standards picks too.

then again, mage gear is all over the map really for mages since there's even fewer strictly better pieces on this side of the divide. (mostly because we have fewer 'always useful' pieces)

even huge staple items like noble's tunics are barely 50% use for alot of whitemages for instance.

Just a few notes on JP only the way I class it,
    1. mainly one is the frustration of not understanding("NA" sometimes express that they cant understand jp too on the otherhand), these type will join if the leader speak japanese, even if you use romanji, lotsa my rl friend in Japan says its this.

    2. The racist bitches(extremist) who are retarded and straight out tell me if there is a NA they are not joining. You cant use romanji on these assholes, but once you have hira/kata/kanji mixed, there like ok!! On another hand if they say they dont understand you when you use romanji, just tell them what kind of a retard are you, didnt you learn it in school, its fun to see other JP laugh at him.

    3. A common problem with a lot of players is , Hey close/got to merit got merit Red Dot.. Or retarded leader wants his last 500-1000xp makes a PT and leaves right after. I dont know whats up with this since I came back, but this is a huge whine one one I get from most JP friends, which I Agree and avoid someone I dont know. 9/10 PT this happens.

Also I doubt FF is dying in Japan, when I restarted FF I had to buy it for 8000Yen for freaking FFXI collection in July. and while you guys get it Cheaper its not getting cheaper here(US went to like 20$, direct drive told me gtfo ;(, and torrents too slow! ). Also Lotsa low lvls total newb join my jp friends ls on a regurlar basis.

I haven't even gone to bed yet and there's already more than enough questions to do a trial run. :D I will give you guys until I wake up tomorrow to finish submitting stuff. Then I'll probably make the post during the day and get the results together over the weekend.

The blue/purple question will be asked. :D

The very first TPburn Kirin video I saw back in the day was from a Japanese LS. I think it has more to do with general LS strength and jobs/attendance than cultural issues, most of the NA LSs here don't burn it regularly, and a few of the more skilled JP LSs do.

    * Considering new changes to be implemented (AV/PW/LvlSynch/etc), and past ones (Rng Nerf/CoP Nerf/2hd balancing/etc) to "enhance play"; do they think that the game has gotten easier or has it become a better playing experience?

    * Do they believe they'll ever release playable male mithras (not manthra)?

    * Aphmau or Prishe?

    * Favorite Storyline (Nations, RoZ, CoP, ToAU, WoG)?

I'm really interested in hearing the reasoning behind 'JP only'. Is it that strange to accept that there are people who speak a different language? I know a lot of americans who can be almost equally as xenophobic, but most won't put 'US players onry' in their seacom, or actively try to avoid non-americans.

Also, in a similar vein -- I solo a lot, and when I am soloing for xp I put my camp in my seacom. In a majority of the cases, I won't get camped on, unless its puddings on blm, or the infamous colibri camps on bst, which I avoid anyway -- but when I do get camped on, most of the time (with exactly two exceptions), it'll be a JP player. I use auto-translate for the seacom, so are they just perplexed by the practice of informing other players you're camping there?

The whole JP Only thing sort of Irks me a little, but i've learned merely basic in terms of lingual items commonly used by the japanese players in the game (Greetings, Mobs, when they are disbanding etc.) its not that hard to get around, and often just using the auto-translator to say, i can understand a little, atleast gets me into those JP parties we all used to long for. There are on other occasions where i am just flat out denied for being a gaijin though.

Only question i'd really like to pose is, What keeps a Japanese player playing the same game for 6 years?, there eventually has to come a point where they say, ive done everything, i feel i have accomplished everything the game has to offer me in a challenging way, why should i keep playing?.
