1) stop talking about RMT. It's a free in game item to go with a the merchandise release. Piano Collection came with an in game item. Fan Festival came with in game item. So does the first FFXI merchandise item for the series. Get over it. Plus the other thread beat this horse to death already.

2) I guess many of you didn't grow up as comic book nerds. My local store always had statues like this for 100-500 dollars, depending on rarity and craftsmanship. You're not buying this for an "in game item" and it's not meant for everyone to buy. It's probably in very limited quantities and personally, I think it'll look bad ass on my work desk (I'm a game developer and always trying to make my office feel more fun than the next guy).

But seriously, some people who play this game like collecting things. Some people like merchandise. And some people have real jobs and don't mind buying things they like. So quit your whining, for god's sake.

Also, the Nomad had is once every 5 days, so once every 40 hours for the Talisman is a steal.

I actually didn't view the Tidal Tasliman as being that expensive as someone with a full time job. I could see how it could be too expensive for a high school or college student to afford. But since the game has been released for 5 years now, I assume the market has aged. At conception, I doubt these types of sales would do anything, but nowadays, I'm sure that a substancial enough portion of the player base has found themselves in a possition in life similiar to me where they've migrated into the workplace and have the discretionary income to support buying something like the neckpiece.

While the Shadow Lord figure is expensive, It depends heavilly on the quality / material for the unpainted model / whether it was done by hand/machine / the in game object / and the artists' reputation. I believe it's too early to pass judgement on the price before we have sufficient information

For disposable income, the Talisman is one of those "Lol I got it so I can giggle when I use it for random purposes / tricking warping people". The recast that they hid until the first batch of people ordered it was not cool.

But the SL at that price, with no in game item, will kill most with spare cash burning a hole, knowing that its overpriced, no item, and even if it had an item, it'd be all but worthless- even if it has a cool effect.

Maybe these were hand crafted, but the quality of that figurine is just some tree sap squirted into a mold! I bet it's hollow with seam lines and weighs a couple ounces. And he should come with a free obsidian throne chair so you can sit him in that /facepalm position you always see him in.

I would love having the Tidal Talisman item (though 40 hours is fail), but the necklace is too damn ugly in my opinion to warrant spending 50 bucks on. =/

A lot of people like to collect statues, and pay out the nose for them - I'm guessing SE is trying to market toward those people with ShadowLord, and not the casual gamer. But if the item that comes with it is really good, I foresee much baawwing. Personally, I've no idea why SE didn't release the choco/elvaan figure here, do they think elf chicks aren't popular in North America or something? lol

So the only use for this body piece is getting to Einherjar twice a week.

Then again, you'll still have to wait on the late and lazy faggots taking the boat so it's not really an advantage worth paying for, imo.
