How many difficulties are there (and do you have to unlock them or something?)
Also stupid question/s, just want some confirmation really. I could download it and play it out of the box with this right? Does any memory stick work or does something need to be done to them to get them working for downloaded isos/homebrew? If not I'll probably have to order that and a 4 GB memory stick. And finally, would I need my own pandora battery thing to update the custom firmware (and how likely is it that I'd need to update that for Agito, pretty much all I'm interested in)?
/derail off
You still need to update to the newest firmware, but it takes 2 minutes with one that's already got a custom firmware installed on it.
As far as I could tell, 3 difficulty levels out of the box. At least I think it was a difficulty option.. >.> Not sure if there are any unlocked ones.
Hawky said it was running fine on 3.90m33, that one says it has 5.00 m33-3, wouldn't that run it? Also I don't need a Pandora Battery of my own to update the firmware then?
And (assuming you've tried it), how big is the difficulty jump on the harder difficulties? Sounds like it's a "play on hard first time through" thing, I don't wanna burn through it really fast (especially if I buy a PSP for it).
5.00 is the current firmware, so yes it would run fine.
I haven't tried the different difficulties, still working on this playthrough.
I keep forgetting to use ex-mode when it charges to full heh... Just fought Ultimecia and used lion heart on her.. (obviously I'm on Squall's story mode) simply amazing.
Alright awesome, thanks for the help.
is it really difficult to understand stuff or are the instructions from a few pages back really all you need to know?
it took me maybe... mmmn, 10 minutes or so to learn the gameplay mechanics.
intial reaction: the game is fucking sick. the camera takes some getting used to. (I'm upside down in mid-air, wtf!?) but I haven't played a game like this in quite a while. basically, gravity and physics take a back seat. think Virtual-On + Powerstone + Kingdom Hearts
Now, if only I could read and understand all the little equipment thingies. At least buying characters is straightforward enough.
ok, i feel like a noob, maybe because i am one, i download the file, the contents are: an unzipped file (xxx.iso) and a text file, when i unzip the folder is it supposed to be unzipped into a folder? thats all i'm getting, and i put it in the ISO folder of my psp and it doesnt show, what am i doing wrong? uguu
Is the game as simple as I'd though it would be? Sounds like a lot of moves of the already limited move sets have too much opening lag to be of much use.
I have 3.51 m33 firmware, anyone able to help me get setup with the latest with instructions? The old thread I used on my torrent site is gone :/
Can go to PSP Downloads - Custom Firmwares that's where I get my CFW updates. D:FF runs fine on 4.01 M33
PSP Downloads | Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 to get the Official Sony updates (you'll need it when upgrading to a CFW). Just download the matching official FW with the CFW you're upgrading too and rename it to like 4xx.pbp. The CFWs on psp-hacks generally come with instructions and its pretty easy to follow. Also some will download the PBP files for ya, but its usually easier to do it yourself.
I'm waiting for the english version but man, looks awesome can't wait!
yeah the game is simple as simple can be. (to me at least) from what I gather, it's more or less about dodging and getting EX mode as fast as you can, lol. This is one of those games where you use the environment to your advantage. Slide off rails, run up towers, duck behind a rock, etc.
You can customize your move sets I believe, still trying to figure this out.
the battle system is rather innovative, but can result in some seriously quick matches. basically, once you go into EX mode, you're a button mash and a short combo away from victory.
BP serves as a shield of sorts, and HP is your actual hit points. You can choose to do attacks to BP or HP. When you do a BP attack to an opponent you take some of their BP and add it to your own. This BP can then be used to do direct damage to their HP, and that's how you win a fight. Some combos from what I've seen do HP and BP damage. It sounds complicated, but it's really easy.
YouTube - DISSIDIA: シャントット VS シャントット
Oh shit yo.
Shantotto is definately a BLM/RDM for this game ;o
Her Ex-Burst is Chainspell casting all the Tier II Ancient Magics in order of weakening element for maximum effect (Comes with authentic FFXI menu scrolling sound, lol). So literally it's just Flood > Burst > Quake > Tornado > Freeze > Flare. And one Light Skillchain at the end?!
Skill chaining with magic?
She's a badass.
I also love how they kepts all the FFXI emotes and animations (even the way she swings her staff, it's the funny looking Taru "lunge" when they have big 2H weapons). Retribution animations used!
Her taunt at the beginning is rather amusing. And her laugh is awesome.
It's kind of funny to watch a tarutaru flying around like she's in Advent Children kicking so much butt.

There's a mini guide to the controls and stuff, i snagged it from the GameFAQ boards!
I was told to upgrade to 5.00M33-4 to make it work.
I originally had 3.40CE ... And the 5.00M33-4 update doesn't work unless you have 3.52M33-4.
So first I had to update to 3.52M33
Then get a quick patch to M33-4
Then get the current 5.00M33-4 update.
Under System Settings: UMD Auto Start: Off
Then Press select in the main PSP menu, change the driver to the M33 driver.
Download the ISO.
Put the ISO in X:\ISO\
It should work!
I had one issue so far, going into sleep mode during an FMV Movie (not cutscene), it screws up when you get back from sleep mode. I was forced to skip the cutscene (press Select during a cutscene)
Other little tidbits to people that are playing and haven't researched much:
I heard to get Shantotto you have to beat the story mode with all 10 characters.
To unlock the Villians, you have to purchase them with points, in the PP store.
That should work, and yeah, you need a memory stick pro duo. Since that PSP already has CFW, you don't need a pandora. Once you have CFW and at least v. 3.90-M33 (the one I have and Dissidia works), you can update via wifi, very simple. Also, Dissidia is about 1.5 gig, however, I managed to strip it down to 1.2 so definitely get 4 gigs at least.
It runs fine on 3.90 M-33. If I were you, I'd get:
Sony PSP 2000 Slim and Light Handheld Console (Black): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games
and
Datel Max Power Tool Battery (PSP): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games Which is basically a Pandora battery minus the hassle of making it yourself.
That way you'll be covered if you need to use a Pandora later on again. I don't know if you are aware, but some emulators (don't know if you care for them) can only work w/ specific kernels (like the phat 1.50) so you'll need the tool battery. Anyways, getting both is the way to go. Last, if you do get the tool, make sure you buy a legitimate memory stick pro duo, or it won't work.
Holy fucking shit. Shantotto for the fucking win.
check out that retribution. HELL YEAH lol
