Damn Gabranth is awesome, Shantotto seems strong as heck too, see:

lol it's not only Shantotto, Gabranth is also way too overpowered.. They must've done it on purpose, since they're the unlockables and all.
Is there a way to lower the enemies EX Gauge or anything? Seems like you just have to rush Gabranth before he can get a chance to charge up his EX.
That's pretty much what you have to do.
Because in his normal form he has no HP attacks, he literally can't hurt you until he EX Changes. Which means, you have to take advantage of his weaker form before he can EX Change.
Part of it is easy because he has to stand still to charge his EX bar with the square button, which makes him a sitting duck. I would imagine it's either kill him fast, or get killed fast. It can go either way depending on what happens. You definitely don't want a stand still moment with him because he'll quickly gain the advantage when he EX changes! So just rush, rush, rush!
And because I like this video:
Cecil Harvey VS Onion Knight
YouTube - Final Fantasy Dissidia - Cecil (Tetsu) VS Onion Knight (Kenji) Casuals
Two human players who kinda know what they're doing and don't try to rush someone who has EX-mode activated (silly CPUs)! Though ironically, trying to run from Cecil's EX-mode probably got poor Onion Knight killed... too bad it escaping didn't quite work for him!
The more I see Cecil, the more his Paladin form really appeals to me. Gotta love the zig zag slash and the "heat seeking missile"~
And damn, obstacle damage can seriously hurt if you pull out a high enough number (For example, 100 + 50 DMG might not seem like a lot, but in the movie above 2400~ + 1700~ obstacle damage about ended that match).
You can play online if you have a PS3 right? Maybe my PS3 was worth the investment after all. Game looks fun as hell 2 players, guessing there's no 4 player or anything right?
I would think the world would explode if this was 4 players.
I hear you don't need a PS3 to connect online?
Another match that interested me:
Cloud VS Squall
YouTube - Final Fantasy Dissidia - Cloud vs Squall - Omni V.5 and Meteor Rain.
The thing that interests me most are the new attacks they have than usual.
Cloud
- Omnislash V0.5 (lol~) (HP Attack)
- Meteor Rain (HP Attack)
Squall
- Red Rush (HP Attack)(Not the real name, but that's what it looks like! Any translators here?)
So there are many attacks we most likely haven't seen yet... makes me very curious.
Another video of the same Cecil and Onion Knight! Cecil uses a new HP attack where he zig zag slashes upwards and upwards then slams the opponent into the ground.
Cecil VS Onion Knight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pklndr9AXIg
That one was actually -very- close. Both got down to like 100 HP, Onion Knight got EX-mode... but Cecil got one last HP attack in before anything worse could happen.
Man, I thought the aerial showdowns were a bit shallow game wise at first but after seeing a few good ones they sure can be mind wrecking if both people know what they're doing!
Yeah, the characters learn new moves and you customize their skillset as they level. I'm watching someone play through Cecil's story, has great quality videos up:
YouTube - Steparu Final Fantasy Dissidia Cecil Story 01
That's part one, he has Terra's up too, not sure if he's uploaded anyone elses. Also seems obstacle damage can't kill you, if it would drop you to 0 it just takes you to 1 HP instead, so atleast you have a chance to recover when you take huge damage outta nowhere.
Oh yeah! I watched Tina, Cecil, Squall. Watching Butz now~
Man... I really -really- want to play this.
I still can't seem to understand how the HP and break system works..
What about the HP system don't you understand? Do you mean how brave is incorporated into damaging HP?
The Brave Break looks like if you manage to hit an opponent with a brave attack and it lowers their brave below 0, it does Brave Break. When you Brave Break someone, you may also get a huge boost to your own brave, which helps in dealing much more HP damage.
What's the point of bringing that number down to 0 if you're doing damage anyways? And what are the crystals near the hp bar used for?
I've been playing the game for 2 days now and I still have no idea how I'm killing opponents other than doing both O and square attacks ...
HP attacks use your Brave to damage their HP. You use brave attacks to build up your brave and then hit them with a HP attack to damage their health using the brave you accumulated. The crystals by the HP seem to be every 1000 HP, so if you don't have time to look at the HP number you can get a quicker reading for how well you're doing.
I see... if that's the case, how do you get to break the enemy, and what does it do?
And it seems like enemies will only die to HP attacks (the stronger ones, like squall's circle of fire..)
You break enemies by dropping their brave to 0 (every brave attack you land steals some of their brave), once they Break you usually get a pretty sizable amount of Brave. And yes, enemies only die to HP attacks, Brave is just what factors your damage. You build up Brave and then use HP attacks to use it to damage the opponent.
Alright gotcha, makes a lot more sense now. I've been trying to do a lot of HP attacks one after the other, no wonder I was having trouble with some of the higher leveled characters.
Thanks for the explanation.Just finished Squall's story ark (along with Cloud's from yesterday..) I think I'll go for Cecil's next, his is only 1 star difficulty.
Well there's two types of attacks:
O Button - Brave Attacks - are used to build up your brave and lower your opponent's brave. Remember that the big number above the HP bar is your brave.
Square Button - HP Attacks - deal HP damage equal to the amount of Brave you currently have.
So you need Brave Attacks in order to deal any damage with your HP Attacks (because your Brave will equal the amount of damage done with a HP Attack and the only way to build up brave is with Brave Attacks), and you need HP Attacks for the obvious killing of your opponent.
So build up high brave, and then you'll do a high damage if you use a HP Attack afterwards~
Getting someone's brave to below 0 will result in "Brave Break". The only thing I know for sure is this: you know that number right down in the middle between your HP and your opponent's HP? That's the brave pool. If someone breaks their opponent's brave, you get all that extra brave added to your own brave. This can lead to very high damage HP attacks and maybe a kill shot if you use it right.
The little crystals represent a HP bar of 1000 HP. So 4 crystals = 4000 HP for example.
- Edit: Oops! Kiarax beat me to it. ;x
This is more or less how the game works.
The Circle attacks steal the other players Brave Points and add them to your own when you hit them. The Brave Points are that big number above the HP bar. There is also a some brave points in the center of the screen between both characters HP bar. When you break someone (get their Brave Points down to 0) you will gain whatever points are in the center of the screen, they will have low Brave Points for awhile. The circle attacks can't do damage to your opponents HP.
Now Square attacks do damage to your opponents HP. If you land a Square attack on your opponent you will do damage to their HP equal to your current Brave Points. Square attacks are slower and harder to land then the Circle attacks.
So to win fights you want to beat down your opponents BP, break them if possible then land an attack with Square to do major damage to their HP. Now you could keep using square attacks but it will take many more hits to KO your opponent then if you hit them with circle and steal their BP.
For future reference, just use this page posted earlier in the thread if you ever get confused about it again:
