Lol >_> at least you got it working. Guys you should also try MHF2ndG, it's kinda addictive and w/ the cheatdb you don't have to farm all the bullshit items (the annoying ones w/ drop rate of .01%). If you have a PS3 we can play online pt style ;o

No voice acting in the trailer lol
Oh yeah, I finally got into this game a while ago when I modded my PSP. Level 100 Butz and Gabranth. Shit was SO cash.
Still is an epic game, of massive proportions, best game I have played in a very, very long time.
Alright, so I've been playing Inward Chaos as Gabranth (maybe somewhat a poor choice in retrospect), but I've finally made it to the 110 Chaos on hardest AI difficulty. And man, I'm getting a bit tired of his bullshit.
Frankly, I think Gabranth is a good pick against Chaos. Innocence (ground and air) messes up his AI 90% of the time so he usually gets hit by it. Hatred is also a good HP move for retaliating against his attacks, because it comes out pretty fast and he's almost always close enough for it. I've found Hatred also to be EXTREMELY useful for countering his ring of fire move. Since I've found (through other characters and Gabranth's Innocence) that all attacks are pretty much nullified against the ring of fire, the only way is to dodge. Well, not necessarilly, I've found somewhat accidentally that Hatred is excepted to this (maybe some other moves as well?). If Chaos is close enough, you can use Hatred to pull him in while the fire pillars are bursting around you and damage him + interuppt his attack. That being said, I've gotten pretty good at dodging the ring of fire.
For Gabranth's Brave attacks, his aerial rush combo works wonders for closing the gap and usually gets him, Judgement Master is also an amazing move because 90% of the time he'll dodge into it, and Chaos doesn't seem to do as well in Chase Mode as opposed to fucking your face up out of it. Aero (both Air and Ground) is also extremely good because of its vertical capability. If Chaos is above you, Aero will hit him 99.9% of the time. Plus, it also activates chase mode.
My real problem lies within his second form. The summon I have into the battle is Omega, who helps a lot, but I'm trying to save him for third form, which I have yet to reach. Once I get to his second form, I pretty much blink and I'm dead. Any advice for it? Because his brave attacks don't seem to get Guard Crush capability, but he just teleports right on top of me and kills me with 1 HP attack, regardless of which way I try to dodge. Its even too fast for Hatred to counter.
I'm not sure how you play, but I find the only way to fight Chaos is the never use HP attacks until you can one shot him. It's so ridiculously easy for him to break you and then one shot you it's not worth keeping low brave. If you can manage to break him early and keep doing small brave attacks so he stays in break, the fight turns into a breeze. Bust out a EX Burst when you're sure you can break him and one shot him with the Brave bonus. I don't tend to use a Summon when I fight him, since I'm pretty sure using yours triggers Shinryuu, which is always a fast way to get fucked over.
Can't really give any Gabranth specific advice, I've barely touched him.
Edit: Fucked about with a level 100 Gabranth vs 100 Chaos for a bit. Not used to playing Gabranth at all so got my ass handed to me multiple times, until I realized he really is almost entirely useless outside of EX mode. Decked him out in EX absorbing/boosting accessories (added absorb range, absorb more EX and lengthened EX mode duration, aswell as his Unique Weapon which adds even more EX mode duration) and absolutely rocked the fight easily. You can literally just power straight through his attacks and stay in EX mode for the entire fight. I could make a video of it if you want, but assuming you can scrounge up some of the same accessories there's almost no way you could lose it. Though this was against the level 100 one, I never noticed much difference when I fought the 110 one with Firion or Terra.
Your summon doesn't trigger Shiryuu, since he's used it in battle 2 without me activating Omega. As far as I can tell, Shiryuu does random shit so its impossible to predict it.
I have made it to battle three, but my thumbs are so fucking tired now. Its been hours lol. I've found that Judgement Master puts him in a good loop where I can pretty much destroy his brave, even if I get broken, but there's still room to fuck up. I think that's the easiest way.
In regards to using HP attacks without being to break him, like I explained, his HP attacks are pretty safe to use against Chaos. I've literally killed his first form using only HP attacks because of how safe they are. But yeah, I keep trying to break him, but my equipment is kinda subpar. I have the EX Mode Critical Up ability mastered, and that helps tons, but I still only do like 150-200 per swing in Chase Mode, and each Judgement Master does like 350 total. For my equip I got EX Force +25% (which helps a lot in Chase Mode, since it pretty much evens me out), Damage +5% and Damage Cut +20% (not sure if magical or physical or both). I'd stop fighting and switch my accessories to EX Force Range +2m and EX Core +25%, but I'm not sure if I'd lose Omega, who really helps in a pinch. For my gear, I'm wearing the best I got, his level 50 Evil Slayer (couldn't figure out where to get the materials for Deathbringer), Dragon Gloves, Crystal Helm and Diamond Armor.
Can't you use that ability glitch to give Gabranth HP attacks outside of EX mode?
That alone should make the fight at least a bit easier.
The not using HP attacks until you can one shot him thing isn't because they're not safe to use. It's just so easy to take a hit and get breaked when you don't have a nice buffer of brave, especially with Chaos and the massive amount of damage he can dish out if he gets a bunch of crits in on his moves. I'd suggest you just exit the fight, perhaps try to upgrade your weapon and trade in/farm some Rosetta Stones for more accessory slots, sounds like you only have 3, and a bunch of EX boosting accessories seem to really help with Gabranth.
Perhaps an obvious piece of advice, but also remember NOT to EX Burst him if he has 0 HP after a HP attack, your EX gauge carries over between rounds, if you kill him straight after entering EX mode you can start the next round and almost instantly go straight back into EX mode by recharging it for half a second, then take him down before he even gets a chance to do anything.
My abilities are fine, I spent some time mastering anything I'd really want need, except maybe Speed Up++ and Number of Jumps++.
Yeah I know not to EX Burst him when he was 0 HP.
I exited the fight and kept my summon intact, switched my accessories to EX Force +2m, EX Force +25% and EX Mode +5%. I am not going to exit this, I am not going to farm. It took forever to get here, I spent so much time fighting this asshole. I can beat him just as I am, I just need more practice... tomorrow. My thumbs are so fucking sore, its been like hours I've been fighting this asshole.
And when it comes to HP attacks, if I have more than 5000 brave than yeah its not worth using any HP attacks until I can one shot him. But below 3000 brave he can and will Break me if he connects that stupid combo that looks extremely similar to Gabranth's Judgement Master. So it doesn't really matter trying to one shot him when he's already broken me once, because there is just no way I can steal 9999 Brave without making a single mistake everytime it happens. Unless my fingers are just tired. Thanks for the help though.
I finally did it, decided to try today and got it on the first try. I wish I could've saved the replay, the battle was so epic. I took an 8000 damage hit but regened it all, there was master Chase Mode play going on, I dodged his EX Burst perfectly twice in a row, I got to 9999 brave, got it all removed by Shinryuu, then got up to 9200 Brave again, used my EX Burst cause I thought it would finish him off (he had 777 HP left... lucky sevens...) but he survived with 263 HP. I recharged my EX Gauge while dodging all his shit, got in one good Judgement Master, got 268 Brave, he dodged all my Chase attacks, so I killed him with a Hatred right after. Shit was SO cash, I feel so good right now lol. Too bad that game wouldn't let me save the replay D:
If anyone's interested, I finally managed to win a match with Gabranth outside EX Mode lol.

I'd probably get this if I didn't already have a PSP.Square Enix's Dissidia Final Fantasy is also getting the Entertainment Pack treatment, bundling the Final Fantasy-themed fighting game with a new "Mystic Silver" PSP, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children on UMD and a 2 gigabyte Memory Stick Pro Duo.
Interestingly, this package is a GameStop exclusive. It will set future PSP-3000 owners back $199.99 USD when it ships on August 25th.
Meh I would get this if there wasn't another version of PSP coming out later this year...I believe they called it PSP Go?
Can't get CFW on a PSP-3000 series or one of the later 2000 series--why would you get one or anything newer? lol
Any word on the Non-moonspeak version, I'm tried of getting my assraped by Choas
