Canadian Working Visa anyone? (Halp plz)

Sorry to say but immigrating to Canada does come at a high price, but that's pretty much the case for any modern nation state with an advanced social welfare system.

Kiro, if you have been living with your girlfriend for 2 years or more and can prove it with legal documents you could maybe consider applying under the Common Law sponsorship category. Your girlfriend would need to be working or have money in excess of 20k in order to prove that she is suitable as a sponsor for you. This is the same as if you were married but takes somewhat longer to process then the marriage path.

Keep in mind that in either case your GF would need to be an adequate sponsor in the govts eyes to even give you a shot to enter the country.

This shit is fucking annoying and can take months to years to complete.

Honestly you should look into enrolling into some cheap school in Montreal and apply for student visa. At least with a student visa you can work, just not sure how many classes you'd have to be enrolled in to be eligible.

Or you could just move to Montreal and find under the table work.

Finding under the table work is easy, I already have a job waiting for me once I go up there. Problem is, it's ILLEGAL! :O But I'd be making something around 4k a month, which is a little less than what I make now.

I have a friend who lives in Montreal who's french, has a college degree, and attempted to get his girlfriend up there too, so he's been giving me a shit ton of advice so far. He mentioned the sponsorship thing that my girlfriend could do. He has the paperwork still and he said he'd just mail it to me and let me figure the rest out.

Going to school up there wouldn't be a bad idea either. I don't really need anymore degrees, but another computer certificate would probably help a little bit, and I'm pretty sure I'd have to enroll in a College to get it. Would only take me a few months though.

At this point the easiest option so far is moving up there and living in her parents' house in the basement (converted to be another house basically. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom... bar. :3), and work at this job until something happens with this visa crap. Her parents don't really give a shit if I stay there, which is kind of weird. I really don't like the idea of being a leech though.


Edit: Although I think I can only stay there for 6 months with a passport, right? Am I gonna be hunted down after 6 months runs out? :O

My wife has been living up here for two years. Just don't get pulled over for anything and they won't deport your ass.

Honestly though if you got a job that pays decent and you have very little in living expenses then staying up here indefinitely isn't hard. Just go down to the states every 6 months and do some shopping for a day or two (this is honest to god the advice a Canadian immigration lawyer gave my wife).

As for the parents, well throw them some money for food every month and you won't be a leech.

Well yeah, I'm planning on paying rent regardless. Thankfully Montreal isn't too far from the border, so going to the states to buy shit won't be difficult.

I might end up getting a lawyer to help me with this junk to speed things up, seems that's what most people have advised me to do.

Kiro I have a friend that moved to Texas, and she absolutely hated it. Sure, houses are cheap as shit, but the minimum wage is WAAAAY lower than it is here, so you make way less money.

If you want high minimum wage come live in New Mexico. I get paid 9.50 an hour and I'm fucking 17.

I haven't been paid minimum wage since I was 14, lol. At my current job I get around $24 per hour. This "under the table" job I'm going to get once I get up there is going to be between $800 and $900 a week, just cash in an envelope.

As long as you don't have any drug-related convictions, I can't imagine it being a problem to move to Canada. If you did, even getting across the border would present a problem and I'm guessing that is not the case right now.
