Afaik HBO was noodling between doing A Song of Ice and Fire or Preacher, but as I said above, since the Preacher series got canned, ASoIaF is basically a go.

Can't wait, even if it turns out bad.
Agree on skipping book 7 though.![]()
I pictured Richard being a little bit more rugged/older than that (see Stone of Tears cover), and have no idea how they're going to deal with the extensive graphic content, given the content of the second half of the first book -- and I mean you can't really cut it out, since it's central to the development of the relationship between Richard and Denna, etc etc.
I guess I'll watch a few episodes and see how it turns out, I don't want to pass judgement without having seen it.

Even if the casting for Richard is a little off, you really can't argue with that right there. :Q
I wonder if they are gonna periodically change Kahlan's hair color through-out the series since each book its a diff color lol.. first book she was blonde so wth! And i see they recently re-printed the first's book cover to image the TV series...
Her hair only changes color on the book covers, for some inane reason.
Just looked it up, I guess it was brown. I always see her as having Auburn hair, though.
Wizard's First Rule, Page 10 (1995 Edition)
His breath caught for an instant. Her brown hair. . .
I couldn't get into the books but I bet I'll like the tv show. I couldn't stand how Goodkind leaves side characters off in space for hundreds of pages at a time, then have them suddenly appear again at the end. But I think a TV show would easily fix that.
MUCH more looking forward to a Song of Fire and Ice series.
I so hope they don't... Book 3 (i think) got a bit too political for my taste, but book 7+ started to get very religious in parts and I think the series would have been better w/o all of it. And for sake of cutting content/keeping the series interested for the general audience... they would do well to skip most of it. Nobody (including me) wants to have entire episodes devoted to religious affairs. It's one thing for a book to delve into it, an entire different affair to launch one's beliefs via media broadcasting
I bet Pillars of Creation would be a hard season to do, if they get that far. You can bring in brand new characters and forget the main ones for the entirety of a book in literature, but not television. If the series is popular enough to last until that season, the main cast would probably not enjoy the idea too much, nor would the audience.
I'm pretty sure they would never do Pillars of Creation. <_< lol. At least I hope not.
dude, although I'm very excited about the series, I think they are gonna butcher it.
There was everything from child molestation to gang rapes. Kahlan's sister in the dungeon, lawl.
Still, very excited to see Zed Zedikus whatever the fuck his name was.
Is it time to eat yet?
Wizard's First Rule

Wizard's Fourth Rule

Wizard's Fifth Rule

Wizard's Ninth Rule

Wizard's Tenth Rule
"Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self."
The main reason I loved the series was becuase of the political/religious basis to it. I probably won't even watch it if they cut that out of it.
I can admire the morals and ideas he had that he expressed through the books, I thought it was neat. It was just at times, it felt almost forced, like he was pushing it down our throats and beating us over the head with it when he could have been a bit more subtle like he had been throughout the rest of the books.
I haven't read the books but this series sounds interesting, so I'm going to check it out. I think I remember hearing the rights were sold to Disney, not sure, if that's true probably a crap-shoot.
I read these books somewhat obsessively for the first.. 3-5 books then my interest started waning as each task set out before him turned more and more impossible and OMG WHERE'S KAHLAN AGAIN
hopefully she gets lost in every episode and he comes back to life after years of torture in every episode so it stays true to the books
edit:
oh and yeah, the butchered rand tribute in whatever book (or all) was terrible, is this series done yet? I really hated myself for reading each that came out but it'll irk me if I don't at least finish it -- and god he looks like a loser in his author's photo haha
