This whole "controversy" is an insult to the average American intelligence.

This isn't just taking a quote out of context. It's taking something McCain himself has said REPEATEDLY and accusing his rival of sexism due to saying it. If Obama is a sexist for using the pig+lipstick saying while talking about Palin, McCain is a sexist for using the same saying talking about Hillary.

It is funny this morning all they were talking about on the news was how big of a mistake it was for Obama to say that and were going off about the controversy. But then in the same news cast they pointed out the hypocrisy of the McCain campaign pulling out the gender card and then showed a clip of McCain saying the exact same saying about Hillary Clinton.

I don't have an article handy on it, but I heard on the radio this morning that the context of 'in kindergarten' was originally meant to teach children how to identify a predator that might attempt to lure them into a kidnapping situation. Somehow that mutated into a flowery explosion of semen-laced condoms and vaginas in the minds of McCain campaign strategists.

In his initial comments Tuesday, Obama was delivering a dissertation about McCain and President Bush when he used the lipstick aphorism — not Palin. In fact, his reference to the Alaska governor later on was a defense of her strong belief in religion.

The lipstick maxim is hardly new to either Obama or McCain. The Democrat has used it in the past, and McCain repeated the folksy metaphor when he criticized Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on health care. McCain was never accused of being sexist when he uttered those words.

McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers responded, saying: "Barack Obama can't campaign with schoolyard insults and then try to claim outrage at the tone of the campaign. His talk of new politics is as empty as his campaign trail promises."

McCain released a new TV ad Wednesday that suggests an Obama link to what the Web site FactCheck.org called "completely false ... misleading" attacks while failing to note that the source of the attacks were, according to the Web site, "Internet postings and mass e-mail messages," not the Obama campaign.

I don't think it should be made an issue, but it certainly could be. From that quote it makes it sound like Obama can't make very good executive decisions if even the guy who got the job doesn't think it was the right choice.

If you're going to quote the man, actually read what he said - don't spin a "might" into a "would have been".

Just remember, as proven in this thread, there's a considerable presence in the Republican voting base that reads "Obama voted against a bill that would ban abortion with no provisions for rape, incest, or the mother's health," as "Obama loves killing babies."

Literally... that's seriously, literally the argument given and the support to back it up.
