About the whole "attack on intellectualism" thing, I understand why McCain(and Bush in 04, no?) are doing it but what I don't understand is why Obama plays into it. He and Hillary both tried to be foilksy and go to bars and bowling alleys and such. Why don't they just address the attacks for what they are and say to people "They want you to stay ignorant so they can lie to you?"

A lot of people ask this question. Myself included.

The answer is they don't want to lower themselves to the same petty level that Bush & McCain operate at. Some people will see that and respect it, most will unfortunately just see it as "oh he's a pussy because he backs down'.

Then proceeded to tell me that McCain took a stance on abortion just because Obama's answer was "That's above my paygrade". He believes Obama's just side-stepping issues and not taking a stance, while McCain at least is taking a stance.

Funny thing is, after I got home I saw how McCain had criticized Obama for wanting to involve the UN in the conflict in Georgia when not too long ago he was wanting to do the same exact thing.

Why are people so stupid that they eat this up so quickly?
