I just don't understand those polls. Are they saying that despite the fact that the Bush has a -30p spread, the congressional job approval is -50p'ish and the direction of the country is -55p'ish, McCain is still a more popular choice than Obama?

I am forced to ask, do Americans have rocks in their heads? I seriously can't understand where the votes for republicans COME from. I wouldn't use realclearpolitics for polls, they just average the last 8 polls together which is usually way off. The most accurate website i found for polls is pollster.com that takes every poll ever published and uses least squares regression and linear trend line regression.

to probably be a better indicator of how things are, as it goes state by state vote and looks at things from the electoral college standpoint. Counting national polls, which is essentially equivalent to popular vote, is how we all got surprised in 2000.
