What is myth about billions of years and decades of the study of other planets to tell us otherwise. Mars once had water. Humans must have messed up that planet as well with our copius amounts of greenhouse gases and general destruction of our living environments. Or, you know, rocks crashing into it from space could have fucked it up too.
1. No doubt climate change is real.
2. Sure thing, nature, billions of years in time changes, and the force of the galaxy as a whole isn't stronger than a few thousand years of human existence.
3. It is only going to have negative effects to us. The planet likely would have had this happen in 50-100 years anyways.
I'm not arguing with you about climate change. Im arguing that the notion of Global Warming is silly and a bent farce.
And what talking-points memo did you lift these "facts" from?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scienti...climate_change
It's real, it's caused by us, it's a major threat to the future of humanity.
Wrong.

The report is the panel’s fourth assessment since 1990 on the causes and consequences of climate change, but it is the first in which the group asserts with near certainty — more than 90 percent confidence — that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from human activities have been the main causes of warming in the past half century.
In its last report, in 2001, the panel, consisting of hundreds of scientists and reviewers, said the confidence level for its projections was “likely,” or 66 to 90 percent. That level has now been raised to “very likely,” better than 90 percent. Both reports are online at www.ipcc.ch.

What was your point? What is myth about billions of years and decades of the study of other planets to tell us otherwise. Mars once had water. Humans must have messed up that planet as well with our copius amounts of greenhouse gases and general destruction of our living environments. Or, you know, rocks crashing into it from space could have fucked it up too.
Except that you aren't arguing from any position of respectable authority; you just have this gut feeling that most of the science is wrong, somehow. AND you fell hook, line and sinker for the 'Gore predicts disasters in 10 years' exaggeration of what he's really saying.
In other words you've let sheer faith in...something guide you in the debates.
Venezuela just kicked out the US ambassador.
I love when someone says 'natural cycles', its as if the scientists who work in the actual field are clueless to these cycles when they conduct their research. I bet they would be equally as surprised to hear that the temperature drops at night when the sun goes down.
Btw, of the 3 major cycles (milankovitch cycles) that many climate change deniers like to talk about. The 2 strongest of those cycles are currently in a global cooling setting so the fact that the earth is warming might suggest something is up here.
linkage on the venezuela stuff plz

Hmm, is it because of Bolivia, or because of Russia...CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez on Thursday gave the U.S. ambassador 72 hours to leave the oil-rich South American country, saying the measure was a show of support for Bolivia.
Bolivian President Evo Morales expelled the U.S. ambassador from La Paz on Wednesday, accusing him of instigating violent protests in the Andean nation.
The Bush administration responded by expelling Bolivia's top envoy from Washington.

Aurik: IPCC i think is the same group that had a fair amount of scientists sue to have their names removed from being mentioned as collaborators or something and were refused by IPCC. Food for thought, even though that the IPCC is considered the main center for climate change issues, so to speak.
Correction: I'm sorry, gut feeling is what it is I guess. I just find it very VERY unlikely that a half century of humans on this planet has undone billions of years of a planetary lifecycle. We're not that signifigant, and its not as gut a feeling as some other scientists would have you believe.
Kuya: My sarcastic point was that humans are obviously the lone culprit in the destruction of the Earth. Obviously, since our activities here are so severe...in our immediate surrounding planets of Venus and Mars humans must be the culprit of destroying that planet as well. Humans are assholes like that.
My real point was that I still find it absurd to think that we have any signifigant bearing on the course this planet wants to take. 50 years and we as a species have apparently undone the entire fabric of the cosmos and drastically altered a planets course.
Have we accelerated the trend on a scale that shaves 100-200 years of what the planet was going to do anyways? I can buy that, and thats what I read into what the studies that show the dangers and the warming trends showcase. But that these events would not happen if only humans were smarter and not so negligent is almost laughable to me. We're not that important.
You are making no sense. What does Mars once having life and now none, have to do with Humans having a profound effect on the Earth's current ecosystem? My sarcastic point was that humans are obviously the lone culprit in the destruction of the Earth. Obviously, since our activities here are so severe...in our immediate surrounding planets of Venus and Mars humans must be the culprit of destroying that planet as well. Humans are assholes like that.
Kind of.It's obviously because Bush is such an oil monger, amirite?
Yeah! And FUCK all those LIBERALS who vote without knowing anything but a slogan!
And what, exactly, qualifies you to make this judgment in lieu of the trained scientists who look at real data and come to the opposite conclusion?I just find it very VERY unlikely that a half century of humans on this planet has undone billions of years of a planetary lifecycle.
Sigh.
